It's going on my third day of being held captive by Jax. We are now on a tiny remote Island just off the shore of Barbados or at least that's what I've been told. It's obvious that Jax has been planning this for sometime now.If I'm not mistaken we are located in a tiny one room structure. Looks as if it could have once been a tool shed or something of the sort. However it's empty now save for two chairs, a rickety bed, wood stove, and a outdated battery operated radio. There is no electricity or indoor plumbing. Jax uses lanterns and candles to light our way and I do here water running occasionally when he steps outside so I assume there's a pump out there.
The heat in here is overwhelming but he refuse's to lift the wooden boards from the windows. We're on a tropical island where temps can soar into the hundreds and I'm stuck in a tiny room that offers no ventilation. For the first time in my life I stink. My clothes are saturated in sweat and cling to my sticky skin. Droplets hover above my upper lip and tickle their way down my neck and back giving me the illusion that I'm covered in bugs. With my limbs still being tied I get no relief in swiping the sweat away. My hair hangs damply and sticks to my face in the most annoying manner. I must look a mess, a hot mess at that.
With that thought I burst into laughter. Here I am tied to a wobbly chair and in such a predicament, yet I'm worried over my horrid appearance. My laughter brought Jax away from his game of solotaire. Getting up from the floor he spun my chair from facing the wall. That's right, he had me sitting in the corner like a disobedient child. Staring down at me suspiciously he asked. "Why are you laughing Mirimosa? Have you went crazy?"
His last question made me laugh harder and I hicupped between my laughter. "I'm not the crazy one you should be worried about. I'm laughing because you are going to die".
Not liking my reply he bent down in my face. "No Miri. I've already won don't you see? I have you".
As I looked into his empty eye's anger roiled up through my bones and I swung my head out head butting him in his mouth. Instantly he stood up and swiped the blood from his lip. Gripping my upper arm's tightly he started to shake me as well as the chair. "Don't make me hurt you Miri. The last thing I want to do is hurt you but I will."
I gave a wicked smirk that was reminiscent of my Pape. "You hurt me...plleeeseee. I'm strapped down to this chair yet I just made you bleed. Let me remind you Jax.... I'm not one to fuck with".
With a look of pure disgust he slung me back around to face the wall and growled. "You will not get your drink of water this evening".
That was his plan. Since I've been captured I haven't had a bite to eat and he allows me a few sips of water a day to keep me from completely dehydrating. That's his plan though. He wants to make me so weak that when he does release me I won't have the strength to fight him as well as breaking me mentally. That's his mistake though. Yes I may become weak due to lack of nutrition but my mind is far to strong to crumble from his abuse. As long as im cableable of thinking I'm still a force to be reckoned with. "Go fuck yourself Jax. Tell me, how do you think it will feel when my husband is tearing you apart while your still alive? Not to mention I'm sure my Pape and brother will have alittle fun with you as well. I'd sure hate to be in your shoes".
"Shut the fuck up Miri". Jax yelled but I refused to stop.
"Ahhhh....remeber that lovely evening that my brother ripped the heart from your bitch ass sister". I paused to chuckle. "I'll never forget the look on her face. That was fucking priceless. It must be comforting knowing that you will join her soon".
"Not another word Miri". He yelled while starting to pace the tiny space.
"Honestly did you think you could beat the Harper's?" I egged him on. "We've never lost to anyone and we aren't about to start now."
Deciding to play with his mind more I gasped. "Did you hear that. Sounds like someone or somebodies is outside. Shhh...listen Jax. Listen to death coming for you".
I snickered as he pulled his gun free from his waistband and tried to peep from the boarded windows. "Boo". I belted as loud as I could and collapsed into a fit of giggles at his reaction. He jumped back from the window as if it had bitten him and released a terrified gasp. "Your such a pussy". I chrotled.
Fixing a angry glare on me he stalked over to me. "I fucking warned you Miri. I don't want to hurt you but you've given me no choice."
With that said he cracked the butt of his pistol down across my head sending me into darkness.
Sometime later I awoke with a massive headache and could feel blood dried to the side of my face as well as matted into my hair. All the candles and lanterns had been extinguished so everything was bathed in darkness. I could hear the soft, even breathing of Jax sleeping but couldn't determine where he lay. My mouth was parched and my lips had begun to crack open from lack of water. What the fuck is taking them so long I couldn't help but wonder.
In a moment of despair I hung my head trying to coach myself. This will be over soon. They will come. Don't allow Jax to muddle your mind. You've got this. You. Are. A. Harper.
I tried to wiggle my hands free for the thousandth time but by now my skin had been rubbed raw and the pain was overbearing but still I kept at it. Thinking I heard Jax stir I froze and pretended to be out. As I set waiting to see if it was him another faint noise could be heard. I strained my ears to get a better listen and there it was.
Very faint but still it was there. My face cracked open in a smile as I heard it again but closer. That beat, our secret childhood beat that we used as code was ringing so vibrantly through my head. Drop it like it's hot echoed outdoors and I knew I was safe. Taking my foot I tapped it out onto the rotton wood floor signaling them back.
