I sat atop a stool outside, watching as Excalibur and Aylin played around together, they seemed around the same age, but since Excalibur, or Exca as I now call him, is ancient, I know that's not the case. Adaliz stood next to me. It had been a few months since Mason was shot. And we lost a few more of our team... both Joker and Gordin went down in their own battles.
There were ten people left. Me and Ada were two among them. Two more battles were being held today, there would only be eight left. I stood from my place on the stool and wrapped my arms around Adaliz. Taiyo And Jay walked outside and Taiyo snuggled into my other side. I pulled her close with one arm and kept my other around my sister. Jay could be seen wrapping an arm around Ada, our arms were overlapping but I didn't care.
Aylin And Exca ran to us, and I chuckled. We all seemed to be smiling, even through all we've lost. We were like one big family, connected together by my sister and me. We'd stopped using the beds, and all of us slept on the ground together. We were all close. Jay was like my brother, Taiyo my girlfriend, and Ada was my sister. Exca was pretty much my son, with Aylin who was like my niece. If we weren't in the middle of what was a fight to the death, we'd actually be a pretty good family.
The next day, the eight of us would half. I stood beside my team, Aylin was being covered by Jay, and Exca had gone back to his sword. I took Excalibur and went into the field. The person in front of me was unidentifiable, for he had a hood over his head, and purple markings on his face. His eyes were a deep brown color, and from what I could tell, he was actually somewhat attractive, though the only person I cared for now was Taiyo, romantically anyways.
He looked at me with a glare, the match began and he ran at me with his sword. I thought this would be an easy match, so I unsheathed Excalibur, but all of a sudden, I was no longer holding a sword, but a broom was in his place. I had no choice but to dodge the attack that the man gave me.
"What the heck Excalibur we are in a battle," I ran in circles around the man to distract him, "Why are you a broom?" I yelled at him, he chuckled.
"Well I read this comic recently, about a guy who fights people with a broom. He's really cool, so I thought if you fought with a broom, you'd look cool too," Excalibur said.
"This is hardly a time to be laughing!" I yelled at him. I smiled as I realized the bristles of the broom were small blades. The next time the hooded male charged at me, I held up the broom and he ran straight into it. The small blades stabbed through his chest and stomach and the male screamed. I realized his voice sounded familiar. This was one of my best friends growing up, the guy who could read minds. Yakashi.
"Just realized its me, huh Klein?" He asked. I looked down at him with tears forming. He fell back and I caught him, resting his head on my lap and removing his hood.
"Why didn't you let me know it was you, Yaka? Why did you let me hurt you this much?" I asked him, Tears landed on his face, and the purple markings smeared away. Yakashi smiled up at me.
"Because I wanted you to win," He said, he leaned up and kissed me. I kicked him, hard, so he rolled away uncontrollably. The wind was knocked out of him.
"I- have a girlfriend!" I yelled, "And if I make it through this tournament, I will ask her to become my wife. To stay mine forever," I nodded and took Excalibur, standing, and stabbing Yaka again, "I'm sorry that this is a sacrifice I have to make."
After the battle, my team, except for Jay and Aylin ran to me. Taiyo looked up to me, and used her sleeve to wipe off my lips, "That was so uncalled for."
