The Race to Aria's Heart

******** Aria's POV ********

After 15 minutes of the movie, the boys were bouncing off the walls. The brownies seemed to have put them on a sugar high. 

"Hey, Aria. I bet I can beat you in a race," Nash said competitively.

"Probably I'm not too fast," I lied.

In actuality, I was captain of my track team in Chicago. I was pretty damn quick. 

We went out in the yard and raced to the end of the street. I let him win purposefully.

"Darn it," I said faux shamefully. "Hey, all I need is a little motivation."

"How about if I win the next race, you have to kiss me. If you win, I have to kiss you. Pretty good deal, if I say so myself," he said charmingly.

"How about no," Jack G said stubbornly.

"What about first one to the end of the street gets 5 bucks," Aaron suggested. 

"I'm down," I said.

"Well, alright, but I like my offer better," Nash said.

"ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, GO!" Taylor screamed. 

For the first few houses I kept up with his pace. Then, I flew forward. I sprinted down the next few houses, stopped, and cartwheeled to the last house. I clearly beat him. 

"How'd you... what the... you played me!" Nash yelled in disbelief. 

I cocked a smiled and said, "yeah, I did, hotshot. Pay up!" 

All the other boys were staring in disbelief when we walked back. 

"What the hell?" Jack J said.

"No way," Cameron agreed. 

"Damn girl!" Taylor exclaimed.

"I was captain of the track team in Chicago," I boasted, then challenged, "anyone else wanna try?"

"Me!" all of this screamed.

I beat Cameron, Shawn, Nash (again), Aaron, Taylor (3 times), and both Jacks. I let Carter win and I think he knew that. I just felt bad taking all of their money, but they didn't. 

"Rematch!" 

"Yeah, rematch!"

After a couple more races, I said, "guys, keep your money. I really don't want it."

"Nah, you deserve it," Nash said. 

"I don't want it. I hate hustlers. I just wanted some fun," I replied.

I gave them back their money, and they all smiled. 

"Hey, this was a lot of fun, but I should probably get home," I said.

"No! Stay!" Jack J begged.

"Yeah, pweeeze!" Taylor contributed. 

"Sorry guys!" 

As I walked towards my house, I heard Shawn say, "you guys are totally jealous of my new neighbor."

I smiled and blushed to myself as I walked through the front door.

"Mom?" I hollered.

Then, I saw a note on the foot of the staircase. It read, "Hey honey! I'm going out with Carol Mendes and some of her friends. Won't be back until late. Hope you made some friends! Love you! Don't wait up for me!" 

I laughed to myself, grabbed an apple from the bowl, and sat on the couch. I turned on the TV and started to watch Gossip Girl until I fell asleep. 

********* CAMERON'S POV*******

After the races, we all headed back to Shawn's house. There was a note on the kitched counter that read: Hey Shawn! Going to introduce Aria's mom to the Magcon guys's moms. See you later. Love you! Don't break anything like last time.

I laughed and then said, "so Shawn, can we please talk about how hot your new neighbor is."

"Nah," he replied but then everyone started talking in a frenzy. 

"Dude you're so lucky!" Jack G said.

"Yeah, bro. Like we need to have group sleepovers at this house like every night," Matt replied.

"Dude!" Shawn exclaimed. 

"I think I'm in love," Nash whispered dramatically.

"Oh shut up, Nash!" Shawn retorted.

Everyone laughed, including Nash.

"No but seriously, bro. If you won't tap that, I will," I warned.

"Me too," Carter agreed.

"Yeah," everyone else, except Shawn, said. 

"Guys, she's obviously different. We can't screw this up," Jack J said. 

We all nodded our heads in agreement. 

"So, nobody goes for her?" I asked.

"Guys! We just met her!" Shawn exclaimed. "Just do whatever you want."

"Well, I want to go over to her house," Matt said devilishly.

"Matt, no," Shawn warned.

"Whatchu gonna do about it?" he challenged. 

Then, suddenly, Matt raced out of the house, followed by Shawn and I. We tackled him on the grass and pinned him down.

"Let's flip a coin," Shawn shouted. 

"All of us?" I asked.

"Yeah, let's all play one mass game and whoever wins the tournament gets to go over to her house. Alone," Shawn explained. 

"Deal," we all agreed.

After 1 hour of the game, it was a battle of the Jacks. 

"Jack G vs. Jack J!" Matt exclaimed. "Who will win?"

As the coin flew up in the air, Jack J called "Heads!" 

When the coin hit the ground, we all stormed over to see it. Shawn shoved us all aside and yelled, "TAILS!"

"YES!" Jack G screamed. "See ya bitches!"
