Shawn's Rage

I woke up with a start and gulped for air. My eyes were wide awake jolted up. I was alone. I jumped out of bed and ran out of the hospital room, bumping into my mother.

"Aria, watch i-. Aria?" she exclaimed in disbelief. "Am I dreaming? I must be dreaming."

"Mom!" I screamed and hugged her.

She pushed me away and started to back up.

"You're a ghost. You're not real. I'm hallucinating."

I was going to explain everything (the dreams, my choice, etc.), but I saw Nash and Taylor stepping out of the elevator.

"Hold on, mom. NASH! TAYLOR!" I screamed.

They turned in my direction and exchanged looks.

"Aria!" Taylor called.

I ran into his arms and he twirled me around. Next, I grabbed Nash's face and kissed him on the cheek.

"You are my guardian angel, Nash. I have so much to tell you."

He blushed and said, "How are you here? You died."

"All in good time," I said with a smile.

"What'd you do? Make a deal with the devil?" Taylor asked only half jokingly.

"Nah, actually, something like that. I'll tell you guys later. Where's everyone else?"

"Downstairs getting coffee," Nash said.

I ran down the stairs and entered the hospital's lobby. In the line at the Starbucks, the Jacks, Aaron, and Matt stood.

"Hey guys! Miss me?"

They turned around and exchanged looks.

"Do you..." Matt started.

"See her too?" Jack G finished.

"That's-" Aaron started.

"Impossible," Jack J said.

"Yeah, yeah. I cheated death. Should I put that on my college resume?" I joked.

They all ran up to me and tackled me on the floor. Jack J started crying and laughing at the same time.

"Damn it, Aria. Miracles are attracted to you!" he said in between sniffles.

"As much as I would like to tell you how I cheated death, I need to find Shawn. Where is he?"

"No idea. Try calling him," Jack G said, handing me my phone.

I dialed the number by heart and nobody answered.

After the third try, Shawn picked up and said, "Whoever's doing this is a sick bast-"

"Shawn!" I screamed.

Silence.

"Aria?" he whispered.

"Shawn! I'm alive! Come to the hospital."

"I'm on my way," he said.

As we waited, I told them the story of how I escaped death. They all listened intently and stared.

"No way. Nash's the guardian angel!" Matt said in shock.

"That's what you got from that?!"

"Hey, now we all know how to escape death!" Aaron said.

"Hey, it might have been customized for me," I boasted.

Just then, Shawn ran through the hospital doors. When he saw me, he stopped in his tracks in disbelief.
