KAITLYN POV

I woke up the next morning and the events from last night replayed in my head. "That couldn't have been real," I whispered to myself. I looked towards my bedroom door and my bags were gone. "Holy shit... it was real."

I looked at my clock. 10:15. Just enough time to shower and get dressed. I turned on the water and waited for it to get hot. I stepped in and wet my hair, then quickly shampooed it. Last night was amazing. It was just a kiss but it was amazing.

Then I started over thinking everything.

He's Liam Payne. He can't like me. Why would he like me? I don't deny that I possibly like him... but i know that if I like him and end up having sex with him, I'll just end up having another heartbreak like Michael. But I want to take a chance so badly... wait. Do I?

"Oh fuck me!" I shouted in frustration. I shut the water off and stepped out. I put my hair up into a towel and wrapped another one around my body. I walked back into my room and dried off. I got dressed, putting on a pair of high waisted blue shorts and an orange lace top. It was considered a crop top, but only showed my stomach when I lifted up my arms. I put on my white vans and let my hair down. I towel and blow dried it, then pulled it back into a high pony tail.

I grabbed my penguine pillow pet and sat on the couch and waited to be picked up.

There was a knock on the door and Anna walked in, "What's up, fucker!" she said laughing.

"Anna! Watch the language!" I heard Liam shout.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You ready to go?"

"Yeah."

"If you have to pee, I suggest you do it now. Its a five hour drive and the first stop isn't until about an hour and a half in."

I laughed lightly, "I already went."

"All right, then lets go bitch."

I looked at the house and climbed into the seat behind Liam, "Hello, Kaitlyn." he said.

"Hi, Liam," I said softly. I pulled out my headphones and put them in. I listened to music and looked out the window at the scenery passing by. I caught Liam looking at me in the rearview mirror a couple of times. I chose to ignore it. Maybe if I let him approach me; distance myself, I will figure out what is really going on.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna and I had fallen asleep in the back. I woke up when I felt the car come to a stop. I sat up and noticed that we were parked in a gas station.
"You hungry?" Liam asked.
I was hungry, but I didn't feel like eating. "No. I'm fine. But thanks."
Liam woke up Zayn, "Your turn to drive," he told him.
"You all have five minutes to go to the bathroom before I put this car into drive," Zayn said.
I slapped Anna awake," Bathroom break. Oh and Zayn's driving."
"Shotgun!!" she shouted and took the passenger seat. I got out and used the toilet. When I walked out, I bumped into Liam.
"Oh my god! Sorry, Liam."
"No need to apologize, love." He looked down at me and I felt captivated. There was something about Liam that overwhelmed me. In a good way. Whenever I'm around him, I just want to kiss him, and hold him, and never let go. "Are you all right, Kaitlyn?"
"Umm... Yeah, I paused. "We better go before Zayn leaves without us."
"Oh. Yeah."
I walked before him and reclaimed ny seat. Liam and Anna argued before Liam finally took the seat next to me. I could see a small smile on his face. He was... happy about it. Maybe he did like me after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

About an hour later, I started feeling sleepy again. I decided to scroll through instagram to help me fall asleep, but I only ended up feeling sad.

Pictures of Michael and his girlfriend were everywhere. He may have apologized, but its no doubt that he obviously liked her more than me.

Liam noticed. He took my phone from my hands, locked it and held it hostage. I didn't even bother with trying to get it back. I stared out the window once again and we arrived at the lake house sooner than we expected.

I carried my bags into the cabin. It was huge. We each got our own room. Mine was good size. The bed was very comfortable. I spent about an hour unpacking and organizing. By the time I was finished, it was five o'clock. I was curious about what this house held so I opened the hall closet and found fishing poles and tackle boxes. I smiled and grabbed a tackle box, looking through it. I found everything I needed. I picked up the tackle box, a pole, and headed towards the lake. Anna told me to help myself to whatever was in the house, so I did. Everyone was in their room, so I wouldn't be seen leaving.

I sat by the lake and rigged up the pole. I tied the hook on, and put the bait on it. I casted out and layed the pole against a log and waited. I looked at the trees, and listened to the water gently beat upon the shore. I remember my dad and I fishing when I was little. He and I would fish, while my mom and Erin would meas around with sticks and dirt. I hadn't seen my dad in the past couple days. I haven't even told Erin about them fighting. I didn't want to ruin her summer.

I heard footsteps on the rocks behind me. Liam found his way next to me.

"Hey," he said.

"Hi."

"I didn't know you knew how to fish."

"Its something my dad and I used to do together. I sorta stopped after volleyball. And now, I'm not so sure if he and I will ever do it again."

"Whys that?"

"I haven't seen him in the past couple days. I feel like I might be part of the reason they started fighting. They started to argue about who would go to my games... And I still haven't told Erin. Don't know if I want to."

"You'll have to tell her eventually."

"I know... Its just," I felt tears forming, "I am so worried that they might get a divorce. We were such a happy family. I don't want to lose that." Liam took note of my discomfort of the fact and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. He pulled me into his chest and kissed my head as he held me comfortingly. He rubbed my shoulder. I couldn't control the silent tears that fell.

"I think you're getting a bite, Kaitlyn."

"What," I said excitedly, pulling away from him. The pole was bending over. "Oh my god!" I stood up quickly and picked up the pole and waited for it to bend again. When it did, I pulled it up to set the hook. I reeled in the line and on the shore appeared a decent sized brooke trout. "These are he best kind! Liam, could you hand me the stringer? Its inside the box." Liam pulled out a green, rope like string. I put the fish on and pulled the barbed hook out of its mouth.

"Hey," Liam spoke up, "I was um, wondering if you wanted to maybe have a... Umm, moonlight picnic with me? Here, on the lake?"

I was still kneeling by the water and was caught off guard by his question. He stuttered asking it. Was he nervous? "Like a... Like a date?" I asked.

"Yeah... Sure. I mean, if thats what you want... I mean, you don't have to, I just-"

I cut him off, "I'd love to," I smiled. I stood up and wiped my hands off. I turned around and Liam was standing right in front of me.

Our eyes locked. Something sparked in Liam's eyes and suddenly, I felt my heart racing. The tension between us was strong. Liam leaned in, and I thought he was going to land his lips on mine, but instead, he placed them on my cheek softly. "I will see you tonight, Kaitlyn." He whispered in my ear before walking off. I was left breathless.

I stayed by the lake for about another hour before I took my fish and walked back to the cabin.

"Shit. What am I going to where?"
