Songs to listen to: Almost Paradise by Victoria Justice and Hunter Hayes

KAITLYN POV

After we got back to the cabin, I showered again to get all the sweat off of me. By the time I was out of the shower, Julie and James had arrived.

Anna, Liam, and I had decided to prepare dinner so that Julie didn't have to. Anna and I were in the kitchen preparing the side dishes while Liam was outside barbecuing the steak. Zayn sat on the couch talking with Julie and James.

"He's kind of a suck up, isn't he?" I asked Anna, reffering to Zayn.

"Ehh, sorta. He's a good guy though, and my mom loves him. Not because he's a suck up, but because, believe it or not, he keeps Liam out of trouble. Most of the time. Zayn does his best to keep Liam from going to far with what he does. If Liam does anything uncalled for, Zayn won't hesitate to call him out on it. I honestly don't know where Liam would be if it wasn't for Zayn. He probably would have dropped out of college, joined some gang that sells drugs and kills for the fun of it," I could hear the exaggeration in her voice. "Zayn has helped Liam realize what he needs to do to get through life. Its what best friends do, right?"

"Yes, I agree. I mean, without you, I would probably be in my house crying and getting fat because of Michael. Our little trips to the mall, you pushing me to stay on the volleyball team, they were definitely what I needed to help get me started through this break up. And you helped me realize the times that I was neglecting you for Michael. I really needed that wake up call."

"You're welcome," she smiled.

"I love you," I replied, smiling.

"Not as much as I love you."

I looked out the window and my eyes fell on Liam. I loved looking at him. His more than toned muscles, the tattoos he has on his arms, the way he dresses. Everything about him awed me, and I will not deny the fact that I was falling hard for him. Which lead me to this: his mom doesn't know about us. Wait... is there an us, or are we just a fling?

"You all right? You're spacin' out there," Anna said.

"Anna, your mom doesn't know about me and Liam. She doesn't even know that he likes me, I assume. Do you think he will act different around me? Like ignore me?"

"He might, but I will beat his ass if he does. I don't care if he is my brother. You're my girl. I gotta have your back. Besides. My mom would be relieved if he had a girlfriend."

"What about the age difference?"

"She doesn't care about that. She believes that if two people make each other happy, then they deserve to be together. I mean, its not like he's twenty years older than you."

"Yeah, I guess thats true." I paused, "Do you think he thinks that we are dating?"

"I would say that you are, but Liam's always been reserved with his feelings. I'd say he thinks you are, but he doesn't say anything because he's afraid what everyone will think. Just don't call him your boyfriend quite yet."

"I wasn't planning on it. And your mom will be okay with us staying in the same house as each other?"

"Of course. As long as you two don't... ya know... rock the bed."

"Oh god! NO! Not anytime soon."

Anna laughed at my reaction as we placed the food in the table. Liam walked in with and put the steaks on the table as well. He didn't even look at me, but he sat across from me at the table...

A minute later, he looked up at me and gave me a wink.

This was going to be a long two weeks.
