KAITLYN POV
So his mom approved. I was relieved. I always found Julie like a mother figure to me. Whenever I didn't feel comfortable about talking to my mom about something, Julie was the one I went to. Or Zayn, but there are things I can't even tell Zayn.
I know I just washed my hair, but I had wanted to make Liam happy. So I put on my swim suit and started reading my book while I waiting for the next hour to pass. I wasn't quite sure if it was just going to be me and Liam swimming, but after a few minutes of pondering, I really didn't care because I'd be spending time with him.
Before I got up to walk out to the pool, I got a call from my sister Erin. Uh- oh... I hesitantly answered, "Hello?"
"Kaitlyn, what the hell is going on? I called Mom and Dad. They didn't answer."
"They are at work, honey."
"But aren't they supposed to be at the lake house with you and Anna's family?"
"Yeah... about that. Babe, do you have a few minutes? I need to tell you something."
"Sure," she said, suspicion in her voice.
"Remember those small little bickers Mom and Dad have been having?"
"Yeah."
"Well, it has progressed. They have been arguing more and more. I have spent a lot of time home alone. They can't handle being in the same house any more. That's why they are always at work, to avoid each other. I didn't even bother trying to convince them to go on this trip."
"So what are you saying?"
"I'm saying they are on the verge of getting a divorce. They haven't said anything about it yet, but thats seriously what its looking like." The line was silent for a few moments. "Erin?"
"I... uhh. I have to go. I will talk to you later, Kaitlyn," her voice was quiet. She sounded like she was on the verge of tears.
"Fuck." I said when I hung up.
I left my phone in the room and walked down stairs to the pool, towel in hand. Liam was laying out on a lounge chair. I sat down on the one next to him, slowly leaning back to enjoy the sun.
"You want to get in the water?" he asked.
I looked over at him, "Later. I want to get hot first."
"I hardly think thats necessary," he was smirking.
"You are such a flirt," I said. He smiled and got up, making his way to the pool. He jumped in, splashing me a bit.
He resurfaced and said, "C'mon! The water's great!" I was not in the mood to swim anymore. Not after I upset Erin like that. I wanted to keep Liam happy so I just put my legs in the water. I kicked my legs gently. The water was nice. It wasn't cold, and wasn't hot. It was perfect. I kept quiet, and I guess it was a little too quiet because Liam definitely took note of it. He swam over to me, put his hands on my thighs and said, "Whats wrong?"
"Nothing," I lied.
"You are such a liar."
"What? No I'm not."
"You are doing it again."
"Fine," I sighed. I really didn't want to talk about the situation with my parents. It has given me nightmares already, and now will probably do the same to Erin. "I talked to Erin. She called me asking about my parents."
"And what did you tell her?"
"The truth. What was I supposed to tell her? That everything was fucking grand and they were just a bit busy?" Liam sensed my sudden discomfort and pulled me into the water with him. He held me as I wrapped my legs around his waist. I hugged him, resting my chin on his shoulder. He walked me to the shallow end of the pool and set me down on my feet. "After I told her, she got quiet. Usually with Erin that means she's devistated. I don't know what to do. I didn't want to ruin her summer... but I couldn't lie to her about that. And now, like me, she will probably have nightmares."
