Chapter Eleven

**** Two weeks pass by. Last day of vaction.****

KAITLYN POV

It was the last day of the vacation. I had packed everything up so I didn't have to do it last minute. I wore light denim jeans and a floral tank top. I walked into the living room where everyone was. James told us that he had a surprise for Julie and he wanted all of us there when he gave it to her. Guess we were about to find out what it is he has planned.

I sat on the couch next to Liam who immediately put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me into his side. He kissed my temple as I placed my hand on his knee.

James stood in front of all of us. He looked a little nervous, if you ask me. For some reason, we all had to make sure that Julie was sitting in the chair closest to where James was standing. We all focused on James who began to speak, "So, I have been dating Julie for over two years now. And I have to say that it has been an amazing two years. She is wonderful woman all around. When I first layed eyes on her..." I knew where this was going. "I knew that I wanted to know her on a deeper level. And so I did, but I was so scared that I was going to do something to make it awkward. And I did, but she looked passed that. That was when I asked her on our first date. And every date after that has gotten better and better because I get to spend them with her. She has easily become my best friend. We never seem to get bored when we are with each other. I fell in love so deeply, and that was when I realized what I wanted to do; what I had to do. When Jullie invited me on this vaction, I knew that this was the perfect time to do it." And thats when he faced Julie, got down on one knee and said, "Babe, you are the love of my life and I don't want to spend it with anyone else. Julie Annalise, will you marry me?'

Julie had tears in her eyes. She smiled big and said, "Yes! Oh, James! Yes, I will marry you." Then, James slipped the ring on her finger and stood up and embraced her in a hug. It was a very happy moment, well for most of us. While Anna, Zayn, and I were applauding, Liam got up and stormed out the back door. No one seemed to notice, but me. I let my eyes follow where he was headed: the forest. I decided to give him a few minutes to cool down. I congratulated Julie and James on their engagement, hugged them both, then headed for the forest.

I walked by memory from when Liam had taken me to his treehouse. It was a little darker in the trees than it was outside, so I walked with caution until I found the treehouse. I climbed up and found Liam tearing up a piece of paper. I had no idea what was on the paper, but it looked like he was just tearing it into pieces out of anger. I sat next to him, rested my handed on his shoulder and rubbed gently. He continued to rip the peice of paper. I let a couple minutes pass before I spoke, "Liam, whats wrong?"

"Nothing..." he muttered.

"Baby, please don't play that game. I know something's wrong."

"I never thought it would happen."

"Thought what would happen? Your mom getting engaged?"

"Yeah," he paused. "I mean, after my dad died, she was devistated. We all were. I mean, I thought about her dating, but I never thought she would actually re-marry. I don't think I like it."

"I understand that you may not like it, but James makes her happy." I tried to keep my voice quiet and soothing. "He loves you and Anna like he was your own father. And I am sure he knows he can never replace your father, but that doesn't mean he can't be a father figure. I mean, look at how close you two are already. I have heard many deep, and cheerful conversations between you two these past two weeks."

"I know. I just... I want my mom to be happy. I just never thought that this would be what made her happy."

"It is, and you can not like it all you want, but what happened happened for a reason."

"I guess I can learn to live with it. It will just take a while to sink in."

"I understand."

Liam was quiet for a few moments, then said, "Thank you, Kaitlyn."

"Its not a problem, Liam. I'm here for you."

"No, I mean... yeah. Thank you for always being there. I honestly have never felt this way about anyone, but you. You have this... this affect on me. You can calm me down when I am beyond negotiation with just the sound of your voice saying my name. You are amazing, Kaitlyn. It's like every girl I have been with were the mistakes I needed to be able to find you. And I'm so, so glad that I have you." I felt my face turn warm. I was left speechless. Every word he just said was completely amazing. "You're blushing," he mentioned with a small smile. I looked down and laughed lightly. "Did I make you happy?"

"Yes. Everything you said... it was so amazing that the dictionary does not have a word big enough to descibe it," I paused. I'm glad I have you too." I smiled. And he smiled back, but it soon faded. "You want me to leave you alone for a bit?" He nodded. "All right." I kissed his cheek and left him be. I knew that the fact his mom was now getting married was something that will take a while to realize completely. I decided to let him come to me when he was ready.

I was in my room making sure I had everything I brought with me. I would die if I had forgotten something here.

I started to think about Liam and what he had said. It was amazing. He made me feel better than I have in days with just a few simple words. I know it seems too soon, but I am falling in love with him. I wasn't going to tell him, of course. Not yet anyway. 

Next thing I knew, I was smiling like an idiot. I started bouncing around to music playing in my head. I probably looked so stupid. I stopped and laughed at myself. Then I noticed Zayn looking at me with a weird face. I guess I forgot to shut the door...

He cocked his eyebrow and said, "Are you all right?"

"Yeah. Just extremely happy."
