Marry Me?

*Dave's POV*

     Claire was with her band working on new songs so that gave me the perfect opportunity to slip out and go get the perfect ring.  I didn't want her to know what was happening until it happened.

      I didn't do a diamond, I remembered that her favorite stone was an amethyst. She always loved the color of that. I learned that later on the night we got drunk in Montana.

       When I found what I was looking for it was beautiful and I knew she would love it. When I got back to the house Claire wasn't home yet but that was normal on days that she was with her band. I called Taylor and the rest of the guys. I wanted them there when I did this. I even let Claire's band in on it and they promised they wouldn't tell her.

*Claire's POV*

         "I think we should call it a day, my voice is getting tired." I said absolutely tired of singing.

       "I agree with Rose let's call it a day. Can we hang out with you after?" Erin asked.
    
          "Sure but if that's what we're doing let's go to my place." I said as we put everything away and left Erin's basement.

      The trip to mine and Dave's place wasn't a long one. It was rather short one, I was just tired and wanted to sleep. However, Rose, Lilly and Erin wanted to hang out.

       "Dave I'm home." I called as I walked through the front door.

       "Did you have fun?" Dave asked as he and Taylor came and greeted me.

       "Yeah but I think that I've had enough fun for one day." Rose Lilly and Erin laughed as I said that.

        "Well the fun is not over follow me." Dave said as he took my hand. Rose Lilly and Erin followed right behind us. When we got into the living room I saw the rest of Dave's band sitting there. I knew something was up because they were all grinning and so were Rose Lilly and Erin.

         "What the hell is going on? Why is  everyone grinning like idiots?" I asked becoming utterly confused.

*Dave's POV*

       "What the hell is going on? Why is everyone grinning like idiots?" Claire asked looking extremely confused. That's when I decided to go for it.

        I got down on one knee and started saying what came from my heart, "Claire, I've known you for years. I've wanted you to me mine for a lot longer. Now that you are I don't ever want to loose you. Will you marry me?" I asked holding out the amethyst ring.

        "Yes I will." She said with a smile a I put the the ring on her finger. When I did that she pulled me off the ground and threw her arms around me. I couldn't have been more happy that she had agreed to spend the rest of her life with me.

        "I love you Claire Rain." I said with a whisper.

         "I love you too Dave." She saidd with a huge grin on her face.

*Claire's POV*

       Dave had seriously asked me to marry him, I couldn't believe that had just happened.I said yes because there was nothing else to say. Alex and I never married because Alex didn't believe in marriage. It had been almost 4 months since Dave came in like my hero and saved me. People eventually cleared out and went home and Dave and I were alone.

       "Dave I love you so much, I'm still not quite sure what you see in me." I said just thinking out loud.

     "Claire, you've been my best friend since 1990. Who doesn't want the chance to fall in love with and marry their best friend?" Dave asked looking at me.

      "Anyone would like that, cause I know I sure do." I said curling into his side.

       "My point exactly." Dave said with a small smile.

      "Can we go lay down?" I said in a whisper.

      "Of course we can." He said with a simple smile that could light up my world in an instant.

       Lying beside him that night felt even better than normal but maybe because I was extremely happy with the way that things were going. I was engaged to the love of my life and best friend. I was trying to figure out how life could get any better. With Dave I knew that life always had the chance to be exciting. I fell asleep quickly in his arms. Something about it just felt right.

       I woke up early the next morning and Dave's phone was ringing. I didn't wanna sit there and hear it ring so I got up and answered it.

       "Hello?" I asked still half asleep and Dave sleeping in the bed.

       "Who's this?" An unfamiliar female voice asked from the other end of the phone.

       "Uhm this is Claire." I said still trying to wake up.

       "Well this is Jordyn his ex wife, I'm dropping the kids off to him. So uhm Claire, Dave's mentioned you a few times. He seems pretty happy with you." The woman spoke with a soft tone in her voice.

      "Really he's told you about me?" I asked her sounding kind of shocked.

      "Yes, other than the girls you're all he talks about. I'm glad he's moved on and found you. That's  exactly what I wanted him to do. I wanted him to move on and be happy." Jordyn said.

       "That's actaully really sweet." I said beginning to smile.

        "Yeah, but I'm guessing you answered the phone because he's not awake. So I'll be there in like 10 minutes." Jordyn said in the same soft and warm tone.

      "Alright I'll be waiting since I doubt Dave will be up by the time that you get here." I said politely.

       "Sounds good." She said before we hung up the phone.

      Dave was still sleeping and I went down to the living room to make coffee. Jordyn had dropped the kids off Dave's girls were still a little shy around me because they barely knew me.

      Dave came down the stairs half asleep and had three girls attacking him with hugs. I sat on the couch laughing as he looked almost a little confused.

     "Claire did you know they were coming over?" Dave asked gesturing towards his daughters.

      "Yeah Jordyn called while you were still sleeping and said she was dropping them off. I dealt with it because I didn't want to wake you." I said with a smile.

      "Well thanks babe." He said as he turned his attention back to his kids. I sat there and watched him and I couldn't help but smile.
