Ryan POV
"Are you sure about this?' Antonio asked nervously.
"Yeah, I did it all the time with Nat," Ryan replied.
"Really?'
"No, but she taught me archery, so I'm practically as good as her."
At the moment, I was using Antonio as target practice, sort of. He stood in between two trees, his shoulders centimeters away from the tree trunks. If I didn't hit him, then it showed I had focus and concentration, if I did hit him . . . well, let's hope that I don't hit him.
I raised my BullZooka carefully aiming at my target. I took a deep breath focusing on what I was trying to hit. I gripped the trigger and a blast of energy slammed into the tree sending some shards of tree bark flew into the air and Antonio took a breath of relief.
"I thought you were going to hit me!" Antonio said.
"Gee, thanks for the enthusiasm," I said sarcastically, "Now let's try the Raven Disk."
I remove the Raven Disk from my back pocket and it automatically recognizes me as its owner. The disk flies around my hands before spinning in my palms. I feel its power trying to consume me, struggling to merge our powers but I managed to keep it under control. A void appears where the disk used to be and it grows larger and more powerful. A blast of energy surges through and I fly backwards.
"You alright?" Antonio asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I replied taking his hand.
"What was with that thing?"
"I don't know, but I think I'm dealing with a greater power than I thought it was."
Emily POV
I hid in the bushes near where Ryan and Antonio were training. It's been over an hour and he's only progressed very little. Each time he neared channeling the power of the Raven Disk, he'd always fly backwards. And Antonio lending him his Power Disk wasn't helping.
"I don't it's working with my Power Disk," Antonio said.
"No kidding. You're element is light, mine's is darkness. The two merging isn't a good power surge," Ryan replied.
'Maybe I should go and help.' my inner voice suggested but my other inner voice retorted, 'No, I'll just get in the way.'
I turned to go back to the Shiba House, but I stepped on a loose twig and it snapped. The two looked towards my direction and I mentally slapped myself in the forehead.
"Emily, what are you doing here?" Antonio asked.
"I wanted to, watch," I answered sheepishly.
"The fun's not getting any better," Ryan said.
"Maybe because your using Antonio's disk, try mine."
I handed Ryan my Power Disk and he accepts it his fingers on mine. Our eyes lock and I pull my hand away not aware that Antonio saw that.
"I'm gonna go back," Antonio said as he was already in the forest.
Back at the Shiba House, a Gap Sensor was going off somewhere in the city.
"Where's Emily and Ryan?" Jayden asked.
"Forest, they'll come. Ryan probably won't though. No doubt he's hooked on trying to master the Raven Disk," Natalie said.
"Let's go. We'll make do without them," Kevin said.
