"Hey, is everything ok with Gianna?" Zayn asked. You can tell he thinks the world of her, just by his tone of voice.
"Yes, everything is fine, there was a behavior problem, but I'll let you know all the details when you get back. don't worry, she's with me and we're talking about it. you don't have to rush back or cancel anything, everything is ok."
"Ok, thank you so much Liam, I'll be home in about an hour."
I said goodbye and hung up, walking back into the room that I left 4 minutes ago. Gianna is still on the couch, looking petrified. I walked over towards her and gathered her into my arms. "it's ok angel, you're fine. I'm not mad, your dad isn't mad. you messed up, and that's ok. we just have to work on it." I tried to comfort her as best as I could, but I knew deep inside only Zayn could truly calm her down. "Li Li?" she whispered. "yes Gia?"
I sat down with her in my arms, getting comfortable on the couch. "I'm so sorry. I just feel so bad, I know I shouldn't have said that and it was mean, I just don't like when she talks about my family. she said that you guys let me drink and she said things about my mom and Alex beating me. she said all of it out loud! how could she Liam? now everyone knows.."
I looked into her deep green eyes and saw her desperation and fear. "I know what happened G, I know you're upset. believe me love, I know. but we are going to fix the problem, I don't think you'll be going to that school anymore either.." I let that last part slip.
The counselor and psychologist came in and said they think we should keep her at home and home school her. I like the idea, she won't have distractions and won't have to worry about the social status. the counselor thinks she has a form of ADHD, I have noticed that too, but I'm not a doctor or psychologist. We are taking Gianna to the doctors sometime soon, and hopefully a counselor too.
I'm going so easy on her because the last thing I want is for her to be scared of me. Dealing with G is tricky, you don't want to remind her of her past, but you can't let her get away with anything she wants.
I was snapped back into reality when her voice shouted "WHAT?!" I gave her a stern look and said "Gia, calm down. don't yell at me. Some of us think you should be home schooled. they're only suggestions though, your dad has the final say." I tried to explain this in a way she'll understand, but not make her upset.
She was about to say something, I saw her mouth open, but she didn't and instead her body just slumped into mine.
I looked over at the clock and realized it was noon. "Gia have you eaten lunch?" she looked at me with an evil glare. "no" she grumbled. I stood up with her in my arms knowing full well that she was going to be a pain these next couple minutes.
I carried her to the kitchen and placed her on my hip while looking through the fridge. "see anything you want?" I asked. She shook her head then laid it down on my shoulder. "I'm going to make you Mac n cheese, ok?"
I'm really hoping she isn't going back into her old phase. Well, it wasn't really a phase, just an issue. And she still struggles with it, but don't get me wrong she has gotten a lot better about it.
"I'm tired Li Li" she said quietly. coming up with excuses not to eat is better then flat out saying no, at least she feels bad about not eating.
"No honey, you're not tired. you're going to eat before you sleep, ok?"
If there is a god, she will cooperate.
"But uncle Li" she moaned. I couldn't help but feel bad for this poor kid. she couldn't ever get a break, but I know I have to make her eat, I have to. I keep telling my self that it's not hurting her if I make her eat, it's helping her. it's helping her.
