Entry Three

I choose her, the Selection is done. I'm not sure how Father feels about it but I don't care.

I'm glad that she liked the bracelet, I picked it out with her in mind after I saw her the first time. Tomorrow we move into my house and I'm nervous. I'm not sure how it's going to go and what the expectations are but I'm not going to worry about it. We're having dinner tonight and I'm excited to see her.

I'm writing all of this down quickly before a meeting with Father. The subject is on the growing rates and fatalities of the Epidemics and I'm not sure what he thinks is going to happen. I fairly sure that he thinks that everything can be solved with war which is something I don't believe although he's drilled it into me.

I can't help but feel like I'm drowning around him, he wants me to be him and is trying to control everything. It feels suffocating, as if there's no escape and I need a breath of air.

A knock on the door startles me and I stand up, sliding my journal and pen into my backpack and slinging it over my shoulder before answering the door. "What are you doing here?"

"What a nice greeting, Belle. I really appreciate it. I'm the person they sent to escort you to your apartment and help you move along with the movers who are going to meet us at your place." Sebastian says and I frown before pulling the door shut. He's changed into dark suit.

"So, did you and Eloisa play tennis after Alaric and I left?" I ask and we walk down the stairs. I look up at Sebastian who has a shit eating grin on his face, dimples showing.

"No, we were too busy laughing after you hit Alaric in the throat and went all linebacker on his ass." He says and I frown.

"What's a 'linebacker'?" I ask and Sebastian shakes his head.
"It's a football term. It basically means you go after people and tackle them." He and we walk out of the Base, cutting across the lawn to the Transit.

"I think that a linebacker implies doing to purposely, which I didn't do." I say and we enter the small building where the Transit is.

"So you're just exceedingly clumsy?" Sebastian asks and leisurely swings down the spiral staircase. I chase after him, heels clicking.

"No, I'm not. It was just an accident." I say and Sebastian stops at the end of the staircase. I slide down the step and- "Fuck!" I yell when my heel slips. Sebastian's strong arms wrap around me and steady me. My heart is beating rapidly and I look at Sebastian who's smirking. He holds me for another second before he lets go.

"Right. You know Belle, you might be a bit of a safety hazard." He says.

"You try running down a spiral staircase in four inch heels." I say and he shakes his head. We walk over to where the locked door and keypad are. There's also a place to insert a card.

"Fuck, what was the pin number?" Sebastian murmurs.

"Three-Seven-Four-Four." I say, remembering from when Stephanie entered it. Sebastian looks at me. He enters it into the keypad and inserts a card before the door opens and we walk onto the platform.

"How'd you know that?" he asks and puts his hands in his pockets.

"I saw it when Stephanie entered it as I was coming to the base with three other girls." I say with a shrug,

"That's impressive." Sebastian says. There's the whooshing sound of the train followed by a gust of air. A few seconds later, the train screeches to a halt. The doors open and Sebastian and I walk on. I go up the few steps and take the window seat. Sebastian sits next to me and the Transit pulls away, gaining speed. I'm still not used to the Trainst, the raw power of it. "Do you like the Trainst?"
