I was never a huge fan of moving or the thought of leaving everything behind, but things had changed. Ashton had cheated on me and left, my mom had died last year and my family didn't agree wth my choices. So I packed up everything and did what I had to do, I moved. I moved from a small town in Michigan to California. I craved change. I felt like I'd spent my whole life trying to please everyone else and be what they wanted me to be but that just wasn't working anymore. I felt trapped in Michigan and I was sure if I stayed I would end up like my aunts. All pregnant with men who they weren't happy with. They just wanted to be taken care of, have stability, even if they were miserable.

Taking an uber from the airport to my new apartment felt so different already. The windows were down, the weather a comfy 78, the sun shining brightly. It felt comforting compared to Michigans snow and negative weather.

"Here we are." He man, Jason smiled. "Thank you." I smiled back. "And not jut for the rode, but also the advice." I chucked. He nodded and laughed. "Michigan to California is a drastic decision. You never mentioned if you knew anyone here." I shrugged my shoulders. "No, I guess I'm just crazy." I said getting out. He laughed. "Hey, well if you're not doing anything tonight, my friend had a show, maybe you can come by and I'll introduce you to some pretty cool people." He said handing me a piece of paper with his number and an address. "Maybe I will. Not sure how much I trust a complete stranger though." I said sarcastically with a smirk. He laughed. "Need help with your bags?" I glanced at the 3 large suitcases, duffel bag and backpack. "Uh yeah, that'd be nice." He nodded, turning off the car and
getting out of the front seat. I grabbed my backpack, duffel bag and a suit case and he grabbed the other two before we walked into the building. "So your friend is a musician I assume?" I questioned as we stepped into the elevator. "Yeah, he's pretty popular out here, he's a dope dude. I'm sure you'll fit in. You've got a Cali vibe to you." I raised my eyebrows. "A Cali vibe?" I questioned with amusement. "Yeah, you're really chill and seem to be up for almost anything. Very go with the flow. And it doesn't hurt that you're hot as fuck." I laughed. Imagine that sentence coming out of a very flamboyant gay man. We got off on my floor and I waked to my number. "You better not stalk me." I glanced over my shoulder, putting the key into the door. He held his hands up in defense with a smile. A grin shone on my face as I pushed open the door and walked in. The apartment was empty besides the kitchen that had all the appliances in it. It was very spacious with tons of light flooding through. "Holy shit, this is actually so nice." Jason said from behind me, setting the bags down. "My apartments not even this nice." I chuckled and set down my bags too. "Not to be super awkward, but will you take a photo?" I questioned handing him my phone. "Uh, yeah! Everyone needs a photo in their first apartment!" He said excitedly. I did a little pose in the open living space with two large windows behind me. And another one sitting on the floor with all my bags. "Omg you definitely need to post these!" He said looking at them. I walked over and looked at them, agreeing that they're pretty cool photos. I edited them quickly before posting them on insta. "What's yours?"I questioned so I could tag him. He typed it in for me and I tagged him. "Damn girl, you really will fit in here." He said scrolling through my many photos. I was very into fashion and I liked to have a nice Instagram. It was kinda your generic Instagram models Instagram just with less followers. I smiled at him as he complimented my sense of style. "Okay, I've gotta go. But I'm hoping you'll come tonight." He gushed quickly, giving me a small, tight hug and skipping away. I laughed loudly at his manner, hearing the heavy door close behind him.

Due to the fact there was literally zero furniture in my apartment besides a mirror and a table I didn't really have anything to do nor could I unpack anything. I changed out of my leggings and t-shirt into a pair of black ripped high waisted skinny jeans, a gray cropped tank top, my same white vans with doodles on them that I refused to get rid of and a light black cropped jacket. It was a casual but cute outfit.

I took an uber to get food and to the address that Jason had given me. It was now nearly dark outside, the sunset just still barely present. The driver pulled up to the place and let me out. I thanked him and texted Jason saying that I was here. I threw away my bag of food, still drinking my tea. A few seconds later Jason appeared through the doors. "You actually came!" He smiled, hugging me. I nodded. "Yeah, how exciting. I glanced down the line of people that were waiting to be let in. "So this friend of yours is clearly well loved by the ladies." Jason chuckled, guiding me towards the doors. "That he is." The bouncer person nodded at Jason as we passed and entered the club. "Would you like a drink?" He asked. "Sure." We walked over to the bar and ordered a drink. "The doors open soon, do you wanna go backstage? I can introduce you to everyone." I shrugged. "Sure."

We went backstage and there were a few people handing around. Only a few guys compared to the amount of skinny white girls. No offense to them, and I didn't mean it in a bad way, they all just looked really similar. I mean, I wasn't exactly so extraordinary in my looks. I'm about 5'7", not super skinny, about size 12, dark brown hair that was to my mid back. I was average in looks.

"This is Kara, Casey, Sydney, Jackie, Izzy, Justin, Andrew, and Aaron. I'm not sure who everyone else really is." Jason laughed. I waved to them awkwardly. "She literally just moved here from Michigan. She was one of my rides earlier." "Michigan? All the way here? That's crazy." One of the guys said, I think Aaron. "Yeah, so far California's a complete 360." I laughed. "I'm sure there's quite a weather difference." I heard from behind me, causing me to turn around. He was standing a lot closer than I expected. "I'm Bear. Jason didn't mention bringing a friend. You are?" I was left kinda taken aback by his demeanor. He was taller than me, lean, tattoos covered his body. His voice was very calm and collected. He looked down at me expectedly. "Bree." I simply answered. "Bree." He repeated back, just above a whisper.
