Chapter Thirty-One

One Month Later

Liam and I were officially back together. Noel ended up coming back to his senses after a few days. He came to Peggy's well I was on bed rest and apologized to me for everything. Everything was falling back into place. Oasis was starting to get recognized. In April they were discovered by a guy named Alan McGee in Glasgow at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. I didn't travel along. The boys were offered a record deal. Noel had tons of songs ready to be recorded. Their hard work had finally paid off. Oasis was finally getting the recognition they deserved.

Liams P.O.V

I had put it off too long. I was going to ask Rhi to marry me. I just needed some ideas.

"Hey, Guigs. Um, do you think Rhi would marry me?" I asked while helping him get stuff around for our gig for the evening. We were performing at the Bored-walk again. We were going to have a pretty big audience. Once we got the record deal with Creation word spread around Manchester like a wildfire. It was great though, we were going to be the best band in the world.

"I'm not good at reading birds, but I would give it a chance, man. Ya never know." It was a risk, but he was right. I just had to do it. I had the ring for a couple of months. I would do it tonight, no more putting it off. I wanted to marry her soon.

I found Noel outside smoking a cigarette. Just ten minutes before we started playing.

"We gotta change the song list!" I demanded towards my brother.

"Why!?" He wondered with suspicion.

"I'm going to sing Slide Away." I was going to sing Slide Away for Rhi. Noel had admitted he wrote it for her. He was going to sing it on the album, but I was singing it now. After we played Slide Away I would ask her to marry me... me in front of everyone.

"Dude, that's my song. Let me sing something at least. Your hogging all the vocals." He argued.

"I'm singing it for Rhi. I know you wrote the damn thing for her. It's the closest thing we have to a love song at the moment. I'm gonna ask her to marry me." Noel nearly dropped his cigarette in shock. He looked up at the sky and took a depth breath.

"Ok, fine. But, I'm singing with you in the end." That was good enough for me. I think Noel had learned to accept the fact that Rhi had loved me all along. If he ever messed with her head again, punch his stupid face. But, so far he had been pretty reasonable.

Rhi's P.O.V

The Boardwalk was packed to the max. They had to turn people away because the building had reached its full capacity. Oasis would soon be performing across Europe. I was planning on traveling with them for a bit. I was going to finish my degree In the fall when while they traveled to more cities. The whole was covered in a haze of cigarette smoke and the smell of beer.

"Let's get close to the stage! I wanna flash my tits to Liam." Some bitch behind me says to her bitch twin of a friend. I stepped in front of them.

"Sorry ladies. Front row is reserved for the roadie crew only."

"We were told at the front door to find a place to stand. The front is empty." Bitch number one said with a snotty tone.

"Ok, fine front row is yours then," I said putting my hands up in surrender.

"But, Liam only like big tits." You said pointing to girls' small chest. She looked down at her breasts with a frown.  She grabbed her friend's hand and lead her to a place in the middle. You knew Liam attracted a lot of female attention. All the boys were handsome in their own right, but Liam was hands down the most handsome one of all though. A commotion came from the crowd. The boys came out on stage. The crowd hooter and hollered. All small smiled played across my lips. I was taken back to when I first saw Liam perform back in 91' with Katy. I could have said no to her invitation, but I'm glad I didn't. Because here I was standing on the sidelines watching history being made. They played a bunch of new stuff that Noel had recently written. Live Forever, Supersonic, Bring it on Down, and Rock and Roll star. The crowd loved it. I knew the new album would sell like crazy.

Liam, of course, looked divine on stage. He was so magnetic. He put his all into singing the songs, letting the music take him over. I loved for many reasons, but seeing him on stage made my heartstrings pull. He was sporting his glasses tonight. I adored the look. He tried a little too hard to look like John Lennon at times. 

"This is slide away," Liam said into the mic. Bonehead then started in with the lead. Liam took a stance at the mic. This was usually Noel's song. Since he wrote it for me. But, Noel didn't really like singing in-front of an audience yet. He had a wonderful voice. I hope he would use it on a record someday.

Liam locked his gaze on me. I knew he was singing if for me. His eyes could say it all. I knew he meant every word. From the lust in his eyes and the yearning in his voice. I sang along to the song with Liam, as did a couple of other people in the crowd who had been closely following Oasis.

Liam and Noel joined in together. When they sang together it was magical. I hoped they would sing together more in the future. Liam turned his head and motioned towards Guigsy for something. Guigs nodded and smiled in his direction. The boys slowed down their playing a little bit, but continued with the outro to Slide Away.

"I sang that song for my girlfriend who is here tonight," Liam spoke into the mic. The people in the crowd looked around for me like I would just go ahead and wave hello or something. I sunk down I'm my chair and a little bit. I hated being put on the spot. I wasn't much for crowds. But, it was something I would have to get used to if I wanted to hang around with Oasis.

"Rhiannon." My head snapped up to Liam saying my name into his mic. So much for trying to disappear. Liam was down on one knee while holding the mic. He did a lot of weird stances a lot so this was nothing new.

"Will you marry me?" My mouth hung agape.  The whole crowd turned to look at me. Waiting for my answer.

"Yes!" I replied as the heat rose to my cheeks. The crowd of people shouted in delight. Liam bounced off the stage and ran up to me. He opened up a small ring box with a beautiful diamond ring that must have cost him a whole ton. But, it didn't matter, because here he was declaring his love to me in front of a crowd of nameless people. He placed the ring gingerly on my ring finger. It was a little loose, it would need to be properly fitted. Liam cupped my face in hands and brought his lips to mine. In that moment we were infinite. We had the world at our feet and the future bright in-front of us. He was my and I was his now for the rest of the time, and I couldn't have been more excited and terrified at the same time
