"How far is your house?" Noel asked as we sat in his tiny little car.

"Um well...."

I didn't wanna tell him we were neighboors. I didn't want him to stop buy my house all the time. It's obvious Liam didn't tell him. I figured I better be honest at least.

"I live a few houses down from you and Liam."

"That makes you our neighboor." He says with a grin. He better not stop by all the time. Liam was one thing because he was my boyfriend, but I didn't want Noel bothering me.

"Don't come to my house all the time." I demand.

"What makes you think I'd do that?" He asked.

"I don't know you just seem like you want to keep talking to me after I made it clear i'm not interested."

"I didn't say I wanted you like that. Maybe I just want to be friends. Girls and guys can be friends Lorri." He added with a hint of sarcasm.

"Yeah, I know. I just don't want Liam getting mad again"

"Liam will be fine. He just is a little dramatic. He is the baby of the family. Mum babies him. He is used to getting what he wants."

"Yeah, I can kinda tell that." I say with a laugh.

Being in the car with Noel wasn't as bad as I thought.

"So, before you freak. I don't drive. I mean I do sometimes, like now of coarse. But i'm not licenced or anything." He admits as he turns the corner carefully like a old man.

"Are you kidding. I might as well just walk then. Pull over please!" Was this guy out of his mind?

"No, I'm not letting you walk. Do you see how it is outside. Your safer in here with me."  The light drizzle that began when I left home had turned into a violent thunder storm. I probably was safer in the car with this mad man than outside.

"I guess you are right. Just don't do anything stupid." He was still crazy.

"I will try to drive my bloody best" Noel says as he turns on the radio. It took me a second to recognize the tune. I didn't know the name of the song, but I knew I heard it playing on the radio a few times at work.

"I like this song." I whisper as I look out into the rainy streets as we drive along.

"It's the Smiths. If you didn't know that." Noel says.

"To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine"

The lyrics were sad, and beautiful. We listened we drove along. Every so often Noel would sing along to a little part of the song. He had a great singing voice. I watched his profile illuminate from the street lights. He was unaware of me watching him. He was lost in the music. Some weird feeling came over me. He was oddly beautiful during this moment. At first I wasn't thrilled to be in the car with Noel. But, now there was a comfortable silence as we both enjoyed the music.

The song had changed to another song as we pulled up towards my house.

"Thanks for the ride." I say as I grab the door handle. My heart was pounding. I wanted to get away as fast as possible.

"Take my tape. Get to know the Smiths." Noel holds out his cassette tape that had been playing towards me.

"I can't do that. It belongs to you." I object.

"No, its ok." I sigh and take the tape from Noel. Noel smiles at me. His stare lingers. Making me feel strange feelings.

"I better get inside." I say with a dry mouth.
