Too young for love
Doing things they shouldn't have
Hoping never to regret it.
Love struck them hard
Baby one was on the way.
Took her months to tell her mother.
Papers signed,
They were married.
Years went by-
Five more children came to be.
The beauty of life
Never a mistake.
Years went by,
And alcohol became a resort.
All six kids knew it wouldn't last.
Began wondering when it would end,
The moment soft eyes turned cold,
Cold walls grew holes,
And bruises stained limbs.
The marriage was too long lived
And the children must still live with the fact that their father is grudgingly angry.
-----
Love sparked quickly.
Marriage followed almost as fast.
A new man,
A strange change.
Unwelcome, even.
They didn't want a father,
Yet it was known that she was happy.
She finally got a dress of her own.
Thus three more children were added to the family with problems of their own.
However, it wasn't long before dreams and wishes of a future,
Growing old together,
We're crushed, and continued crumbling by the month.
Hospital trips became a frequent;
Fever became a fear.
He shook.
So did she.

The marriage was happy
It proved to her not all men
Are harsh and mean
Yet it was too short lived.
Why is it that we hold on to what hurts us for far too long,
Yet are forced to let go of what proves us wrong
And makes us happy
Far too soon?
