You cannot tell me
That these protests will help nothing!
Let me ask you what ended slavery
And what gave women the right to vote?
Let me ask you what ended segregation
Jim Crow laws
And "separate but equal?"
Protest.
We were given a voice for a reason.
The first amendment for a reason.
How many times has that been taken away?
I was given a voice for a reason
And I will use it!
This is not a about taking your guns away!
This is about keeping
Schools
Night clubs
Concerts
Movie theaters
Homes
And streets
Safe!
This is about lowering the crime rates
Stop puffing your chest
Stop talking down to me with your finger out!
Stop acting like you are bigger than me
And realize you are a coward!
How would you sleep knowing your child was killed at school!
Knowing your mom was raped and now you have to put her six feet under ground
Because on top of all that trauma
She was shot
And now she is gone.
This shouldn't even be something we have to worry about
But the fact is, we do
And with that,
We are fighting for change!
And we will continue to fight until we get it.
We know that it scares you.
The fact that we are finally calling BS!
And you should be afraid, because we are working to be stronger
And louder
Until your voice is not so loud
And ignorant.
