Demetri took me into a restaurant. He was such a kind person. He cared about my opinion. He listened to my story. He let me walk around instead of being cooped in a room. He is the closest to human here.

I sat down and read the menu. "Uh, I have no idea what any of this is," I looked at him.

"Well what type of foods do you like?" he asked.

"I don't know."

"Soup, pasta?" he asked.

"How about pasta," I said.

"Let me see the menu," he said, I handed him the menu. Demetri studied the menu for a few moments.

"So intense," I giggled.

"I'm trying to figure out what you like. I think I'm just going to order you something classic, spaghetti and meatballs," he said.

I nodded. "Sounds good," I smiled.

The waitress came over. "Good evening. What can I get you to drink?" she asked.

"Water please," I spoke skyly.

"A water as well," Demetri said.

"Two waters," she wrote it down. "Are you two ready to order?" she asked.

"Yes," Demetri answered. "We would like two classic spaghetti and meatballs, and a side of garlic bread."

"Anything else?"

"No thank you ma'am," he said.

She nodded and left.

"You're so polite. I thought all vampires were dicks," I said.

He laughed. "Shhh. You can't tell people I'm a vampire," he said. "But to clarify your assumption, we're not all dicks. Just a few of us," he winked.

"Like Aro and Alec?"

"Aro can be a dick, but Alec isn't."

"Whatever you say," I rolled my eyes.

"I'm serious. He's kind and caring. When you were in your coma he was there the whole time. He only left when visiting hours were over. He cared. If he was a dick he would have left your ass for dead. I mean... truthfully, I know people who would have let you die. They would have pulled the plug as soon as they found out you were in a coma," he said.

I immediately looked down.

"I didn't mean it like that. I'm just saying that if it wasn't him.. you would be dead," he sighs.

"You would've-"

"No.. not me. Not me. I'm talking about Felix or some of the newer guards who have absolutely no control," he said.

"Ah," I said, avoiding eye contact.

"Why doesn't Felix like me? What did I do to him? I mean?"

"Don't take it personally. It's just, he doesn't like anyone. He is here to do his job. He doesn't get attached to anyone. He had always been that way. Maybe it's his past?"

I nodded. "Why don't other people like me?"

"You're human... and humans aren't allowed to know about vampires. They are mad at Aro for making an exception for you. Now I assume that Aro is mad at himself for letting you be an exception."
