Demetri POV

I gently bit down on her neck. Caius may kill me for this, but this was the only way I knew how to calm her down. I held her close as I slowly drank from her neck, my hands on her sides as I did so. Izzy moved closer to me, her breathing began to slow. I continued to feed from her until she was completely calm. She was still, relaxed, calm. "There we go," I said and kissed her head and picked her up. She hid her head on my chest and fell asleep.

I took her and carried her back to the castle. I brought her to my room, laying her on my bed, covering her, then heading out to find Caius.

"Caius," I said as I met him in the hall. "What the hell did you do to her?"

"I messed up, big time," he said.

"Big time is an understatement," I shook my head.

"Did you hurt her?" he asked.

"No, but I did bite her. She calmed when I fed from her," I said with a sigh.

"You fed from her?" He growled.

"It was the only way to calm her down, would you have rather had me make a scene and drag her out of the airport and have everyone watch? No, I don't think so. Good luck Caius, you broke all your trust with her. She loved you, but I doubt she does now," I shook my head.

"Take it back," Caius growls, his eyes darkening.

"No. I won't. She thinks you don't want her, she thinks you are trying to get rid of her, she thinks no one cares for her, she thinks you're sick of her," I glared at him.

"And how do you know that?" Caius said, looking down, calming some.

"Because, she told me this. She told me how she thinks nobody wants her. You broke her Caius," I paused, "More than Aro did."

"I... I didn't mean... I didn't mean to hurt her, I just snapped," he said.

"Why did you snap?" I asked.

"I... I. We were talking about her mental health issues and how we caused everything and then I snapped. I told her to knock it off. I told her I was sick of it. I hit her and then I bit her," he said.

I looked down. "You fucked up," I said. "And she is never going to forgive you, and that is the truth and you know that." I said. "Oh and, she has no cast on, she broke it off," I said turning away from him, walking away.

"I love her."

"Then show it," I said coldly.

"Until you can prove to me you can love her, I won't let you see her," I glanced at him.

"Demetri you can't do that! I love her!!" Caius gasped.

"Caius, clearly you don't, not if you snapped over something so simple. Learn to control your temper. Till then, I'm taking care of her, and that's final."

"You can't order me to do anything, you're a guard and I'm a leader. I override that and I demand that you give her back to me immediately or I will have you punished," Caius grabbed my arm, turning me towards him.

I growled.

"Fine, if she runs away, panics or does anything else that you will regret don't come running to me. She is in my room." I snapped, walking away from him.

I'm not doing anything wrong. Am I? I'm just trying to protect her from her own mate. From her own mate? Jesus Christ, what is wrong with me. I have no right telling Caius he can't see his mate. But I was just trying to protect her. Is that wrong? He hurt her? But vampires snap. Caius is a vampire. Izzy is a human. It was a mere accident. Caius is right. I am out of line to tell him he can't see his mate. Though, I am right for trying to protect her. She's been through so much. She will be okay. She will get over it. She will go back to normal and things will be okay. Right?

Izzy POV

I woke up curling onto my side, pulling the blankets over my head. I didn't want to move or get out of bed. I was so cozy, so warm.

"Izzy," I heard my name.

Caius.

"Izzy," he whispered.

I didn't reply to him. I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to talk to him.

"Izzy," he said for a third time.

"Stop saying my name," I said snappily.

"Can we talk?" he asked.

"N-O," I spelt out the word.

"Please," he sighs.

"N-O," I said again.

"Izzy, please, I need to talk to you."

"N-O."

"We will talk when you are ready," he sighs.

"And I am never going to talk to you ever again. You really... you really think that I am going to talk to you... or even remotely want to talk to you! I don't. I don't want to talk to you. Never again. I want you to leave me the hell alone. I want you to let me leave. I want you to leave me alone, forever. And if you don't, I will go and ask Aro to kill me. Both you and I know that he will kill me in a heart beat. So don't fucking test me. Okay??"

He took a deep breath. "You're my mate, I can't let you leave."

"I'm not your mate anymore. I don't want anything to do with you. I thought I loved you, I thought I loved you. You cared for me. You loved me. But you turned on me. You hit me, you attacked me. You are a fucking..." I breathed heavily, not able to breathe.

"Izzy, breathe," he said, coming near me.

"You're a fucking dick head," I cried out.

He pulled me to his chest. "Breathe," he said.

I held onto his shirt. "I hate you!"

"Let it out," he sighs.

"You're a heartless asshat that should sink into a endless pit of lava," I looked at him.

He immediately smiled at that, then laughed. "I thought you were going to just curse at me, not be creative," he smiled

A small smile on my face as I laughed at that. I laughed hard and shook my head. "Shut up!"

"Have any more?"

"No," I laughed leaning on his chest, tears falling.

"You're going to be okay," he kissed the top of my head. "It's going to take time," he whispered, "But it will be okay."

I nodded. "I don't hate you," I whispered.

He held onto me kissing my head.

"I love you, and I will always love you no matter what you think of me, no matter what happens between us. I will always love you."
