Caius's Mate

Thirty One

A few hours went by and everyone was awake. I kept close to Peter leaning against him as everyone was sitting in a semicircle. 

Daniel looked at everyone, "Well some of you may know, we have a new member of the community, Peter found her last night. Go ahead and tell us about yourself Izzy," he said. 

I nodded and looked around at everyone. "Well, hi, I'm Izzy Peirson. I'm seventeen years old. I've lived in Washington my whole life. I went on a school trip my Freshman year to Volterra, Italy. Some bad things happened while I was there, My mom was murdered and its all gets complicated from there. I'm afraid if I explain more than I may seem like a total psychopath," I looked away from everyone. 

"Try us," a male my age chuckled. 

"You... really don't want to know," I looked down. 

"You're a part of the family now. You can't scare us off," he smiled. 

"Okay," I sighed and looked at Peter then Daniel. 

Daniel looked at me and nodded. 

"I was born with a birth defect, by the time I was 10 I was completely deaf. So I went to a school for deaf people. When I was a freshmen I got offered to go to Italy because a few people dropped out. I would've gotten some college credits for it. But anyway I went with my class and one day me and my friends went on a tour of this castle, but it was all a trap. This... girl brought all of us... maybe 30 or more people on this tour and at the end there was... it was... just... they were eaten," I looked down horrified. 

"Eaten? like cannibalism?"  He asked. 

"No eaten as in like vampires... 'Im gonna suck your blood' eaten. I was grabbed and a man... Aro... the head of this vampire... cult... thing, took me and bit me." I tilted my head to the side showing a few bitemarks. 

There was a few eyerolls and a few gasps. 

"Yeah... things just got complicated... and went downhill from there. Aro murdered my mom... I lashed out at Aro and yeah it wasn't good. Oh I can hear now because I was in a coma... from when I was punished.. right when I got there. I know, I'm not making much sense right now. It's all kinda foggy still because when Aro tried to kill me I hit my head really hard and I had to have brain surgery because my brain was bleeding. I lost all my memory, most of it is back, but I struggle with certain details." I sighed. "I swear I'm not crazy," I looked down. 

"Is that why you left?" 

"No... I got really depressed and Caius, who is supposed to be my mate... I don't know... maybe he is my mate I don't know," 

"Whats a mate?" a girl asked.

"You know like soul mate," I shrugged. 

"Caius was supposed to send me into a group home for crazy kids and thats why I ran away," I sighed and looked down. "My heart hurts because I love Caius... I loved Caius, he was there for me, but something changed and... I don't know. I want him back. I want him to be the person he was when I first met him. He just gave up on me. He didn't want me anymore, like I was some piece of trash meant to be thrown away," I looked down tears in my eyes. 

Peter rubbed my back gently. 

Daniel looked at me, "You're welcome here," he said. 

"Thank you," I whispered and looked up at him. 

"You met Lucy, Lillie and Xavier last night. This is Anne, Marie, James, and Kyran," he said pointing to everyone. 

I waved at them and looked down. "Thank you for letting me stay. I had nowhere to go and no place to call home. Thank you," I said and looked at them all. 

"Of course," Daniel smiled at me. 

I looked at them happy that I found a place where I could stay. I'm glad Peter found me if he didn't I would've been dead. "Thank you for finding me Peter," I whispered and kissed his cheek. 

"You're welcome," he smiled and squeezed my hand.
