The shadow of a Galra cruiser loomed ominously over a small moon, drowning out any natural light of the small star that attempted to cast light past the massive ship. Not too long after, a whole fleet of ships came to surround it. Inside the ships control center was general Thuran, who sat peering at a screen displaying the moon below. A soldier clad in grey with a red insignia on its chest came into the room, and began rapidly spouting off information. "General Thuran, the moons inhabitants have been subdued, when should we began interrogations?" General Thuran kept looking at the screen when he replied "Soon enough, remain patient for now. You never know if any rebel fighters will attempt to stop us, and I want all my ships here if they do." The Galra has been monitoring this planet for some time, and noticed that many ships passed between here and other neighboring planets, and were suspected to be rebel fighters; and planned on interrogating them for information.
For a long while the fleet sat in silence and tension filled air- confident they could crush rebel forces that attempted to feebly take over their fleet, but still wary that any might surprise them. After a few tics Thuran gave the signal for them to descend on the planet.
Just as the fleet was on the move, a flash of red light shot out from the vastness of space. It quickly maneuvered through half of the fleet, decimating half the ships without them even having the opportunity to fire at them. Thuran spun around to look at the noise from outside and stared out the large domed window in the control room. Just as he did this a soldier stormed the room "General! We're under attack by"- "Voltron, I know." He replied, deeply dissatisfied by the word. "Charge the ion canons, we cant hit the red one, but they're not all as fast as this one. Aim for the yellow especially." He said calmly, hiding his anger and surprise at the attack. "How do you know the others will be here?" The soldier responded. "Do I need to explain myself? Of course there will be more. Now charge the cannons I'm not going to let them get away due to your insolence." He spat out the last sentence. "Y-yes sir, right away!" They shouted as they tore down the hallway.
Thuran turned back to face the red lion that streamed across space, and to his horror, made its way over to his ship. A solider that was posted nearby saw this and began to panic "it's coming right for us!" The soldier next to them also said "they're going to destroy the ship!" Thuran replied "Enough! A little cat can't break this ship, you should both be ashamed to call yourselves Galra." He turned and began to contact the other cruisers to aid in the fight against voltron.
Thuran was right about something; soon after he called upon the other ships a mechanical beast barreled forward into the fray. A large yellow lion chomped down on a larger ship that was following the red, and as it began to be swarmed, it shot multiple ships out of the sky at once. Not too long after the yellow, a blue lion was freezing ships left and right, and a small green one was shooting ships that suddenly were over come by massive green vines. Thuran was horrified, but quickly snapped out of it when a soldier came up behind him and reported "Ion canons are ready to be fired, which target do we aim for?" He turned back at the window, gazing in fear and disgust at the large yellow beast. "The big one." He replied. The guard hesitated as if thinking which one that was, then nodded and sprinted away. Thuran watched as his ship was destroyed; gear replaced with anger at how these lions will make him look. He was pleased as he saw the ion canons load and begin to fire at the large yellow smudge in space. He was troubled when they stopped and he heard shouts down the hall. "What is it now..." he muttered, until a Galra standing nearby ran to him and yelled "Sir, it's the black lion- it's coming up behind us!" They screeched the last part. Thuran allowed his eyes to widen, as he wiped around, until only tics later his ship was cleaved in half, and him along with many other soldiers were engulfed in explosions that occurred within the vast ship.~[*]~
The green paladin was maneuvering through space around the ships that darted past her large mechanical cat. She shot some with her vine-canon, pleased when she managed to catch four ships together. "Pidge!" She heard a shrill voice call out to her. "The blue lion is taking heavy fire! I need your help!" Came the distressed voice of princess Allura; the new pilot of the blue lion. Backing away from the corners of the fleet, she made her way over to where she saw blue who found themselves unfortunately in the center of the fight. "Copy that Allura." She replied unto her intercom. She sped past the yellow lion who crushed a ship that was hurtling towards her. "Thanks Hunk!" She said on the way past, as the yellow paladin replied with a quick "No problem." Into the intercom. Pidge was trying to pick her way through a whole cluster of ships, all swarming her as she tried to push them off her. She willed her lions tail around and swatted some, cleaving them in half; only to have her lion growl as in protest to her action. "What? Do you not want me to get these ships off you?" Pidge asked her back, swatting more out of the sky. The lion growled again. "Don't tell me it hurts your tail." She said back as she made her way now towards the princess. "If that's the case I'm sort green." She patted the dashboard of the ship- something that seems strange unless you also had a physic connection to a mechanized animal. Allura shouted again in to the intercom, "Pidge HURRY!" She was still new to piloting the lion, and the new pilot of the red lion also chirped in, "Does my princess need protection from the red lion?" A grunt came from the other end of the intercom, followed by Allura saying "I would have preferred you helping earlier but yes Lance, I need help against these ships." Alluras accent was always heaviest when she attempted to say Lances name, sounding more like Lonce in the end. Pidge eventually made her way over to the blue lion, seeing the red lion swirling around the surrounding ships. Pidge noticed a canon charging up nearby, and she propelled herself in front of Allura just in time to have the shield on her lions back stop it. "Lance I'll need some help here!" Pidge yelled into the intercom. "On it Pidgeoto!" He responded. He shot a blast of boiling heat at the ship, and it was launched backwards, trying to balance itself despite having half of it melted off. "Thank you Lance- and also please never call me pidgeoto again." There was silence over the radio, until Lance said "Yur welcome... I might call you that again..." he said slyly, until he blasted off into space. "Ummm guys? When is Shiro getting here?" Hunk sounded off through the intercom. He was cut off when a few shots of bright purple light began to make their way in his lions direction. "I'll need some HELP!" He said as he twisted around and dodged the large shots of bright light, knowing even one hit could possibly decimate his irreplaceable lion. "Hunk watch out!" Allura cried out, as she made her way over to him, until a large black mass emerged from the vastness of space behind the ship firing at the lions. It flew along it, cutting through it with a blade that was embedded in the ships jaw. The cruiser was totaled on one side, blowing bits off of it until it lowered towards the moon. "Holy shit! That was AWESOME!" Pidge said into the intercom. "Language, Pidge." Came the strong voice of Shiro, now present over the intercom. "Sorry I'm late- had something else I had to do before."the lions circled together above the battlefield, seeing the destruction down below. Every ship was either obliterated completely, or slowly drifting towards the moon; eventually torn apart by its gravity. "Good work paladins, lets go back to the castle."
The castle was preoccupied on a rebel planet Called Vrall, so the paladins has to travel some distance to get back to planet. Despite being in space for months, the paladins were still in awe by the sights they've seen; Pidge especially was both baffled and fascinated by all she saw. She was fiddling with her radio on the way back, as she had been attempting to make it pick up signals farther and farther out in space. She was putting it out to a frequency that would have been a short distance from where they were currently, but that portion of space was comprised of vast asteroid fields and space dust. She was just adjusting it, not paying attention to it until she got a brief snipet of radio chatter. She wiped around and stared at her radio, stopping her lion from moving forward, and began furiously adjusting the radio to get a better sound of the message. The other lions propelled forward, until Hunk noticed and went back to see why she stopped, Lance following suit. "Hey Pidge what are you doing?" He asked her over the intercom. She didn't answer at first making only noises of frustration. She then suddenly snapped her head towards the vast empty space that had delivered her the message. "Pidge, What could you possibly be doing now." Lance whined. "We've been flying around for awhile, come on' let's mosey." "First, stop whining Lance, and second let's mosey wouldn't convince me normally, especially not now..." she trailed off. "What do you mean not now?" Hunk asked. She didn't answer at first, then quickly said, "I'll tell you back at the castle, we're almost there."
The lions returned to Vrall after a short amount of time, and they descended into the pillars that held each lion. "Paladins! Allura! Good to see you're alright, hopefully not too shaken up from your battle. I've been communicating with some of the Vrallians here, many have agreed to help in the liberation effort!" The Altean engineer Coran spouted off. Allura walked over to him and began speaking to him about the fight over the small moon. Pidge went to the central control hub for the ship. She stood over a figure hunched over a holographic screen, typing rapidly. She tapped the figure on the back, as their head shot up to look at her. They brushed sandy brown hair from their face, beaming down at her. "Pidge!" They cried, reaching out to embrace her. "How was it? We've been busy negotiating with the vrallians on Helping the cause for Voltron..." he began trailing off. She chuckled at his ability to talk for so long, eventually cutting him off and saying "Matt, on our way back, I picked up some weird signal. Can you maybe take a look, it's confusing me." She began typing into the screen, pulling up a small recording of the radio chatter. "I dint get all of it, I wasn't expecting anything so this is all I've got at the moment." He looked at her and smiled as he hunched over to look at the screen, saying "Well geez if it's confusing you it must be something really strange." He began looking it over, his face dropping in confusion at the message. He stood up and shook his head slightly, saying only "well I don't really know what to say Pidge, it looks just like your preprogrammed message- what's the confusing part?" He asked her. Pidge has made a small message to intercept any possible allies, it was cloaked from Galra frequencies, only able to be read by other rebel's. It was a combination of all the paladins saying a little hello message, including Coran and Allura and the now absent Keith. "That's just the thing Matt, it's my message, but I made it to where I couldn't receive it again, you know to avails confusion. Plus this one is a lot more garbled, almost unrecognizable at parts. How is that possible?" Matt looked at it for awhile, about to answer when Shiro came up behind him and pulled him away for a small chat on what's been going on when they were out. Pidge felt a small twinge of annoyance as she wanted to hear his opinion, but she decided to turn back at the message.
Maybe it's some crazy space particles that reflects radio chatter. She thought. I've seen crazier things, after all. But I've been through that area before and it's nowhere special. This is quite strange... she argued with herself for a while, trying to rationalize it all in her head, instead she only grew her curiosity more and more and more... until she had decided upon something.
They're isn't any rational answer to this right now... so I'll investigate. Tonight I'll cloak my lion, and I'm getting to the bottom of this.
