Chapter 6

The Dream

Alex

When I opened my eyes, I was in a long hallway. The floor was dirt, and the walls were made of stone. No wait, the walls weren't stone, they were emerald, just poorly lighted.  Dirt floors, and emerald walls? Something was up.

But the odd textures weren't the weirdest part. I could hear singing, coming from several different voices, none of which I recognised. I decided to see what was up.

I walked down the hallway, and turned to the first door I saw. the foe was made of dark rotted wood, and had a rusted brass handle. I turned the handle. Locked.

As I peered down the hallway, I realised all of the doors were the same, except for a few. I walked to the nearest non-similar door, an oak door, over grown with vines and moss, and put my ear up to it. The source of a voice was definitely behind this door. I decided to knock.

The door swung open, and in the middle of the room, sat something, or someone. I approached the figure, as the door closed behind me. The person, who was sitting on the small stool in the middle of the bright white room, had one of those figures where you continent couldn't quite tell if they were a boy or a girl. They had unkempt, shoulder length blonde hair, small arms, and absolutely no indication of their gender. Figure wise or even voice wise

As I got closer I could make out what they were singing.

And on this tree

there was a branch

the prettiest branch

that you ever did see

the branch in the tree

the tree in the hole,

and the hole in the ground,

and the green grass grew all around, all around,

and the green grass grew all around.

And with that, I woke up.
