Huey's POV

Who am I? You sure you wanna know? The story of my life is not for the faint of heart. If somebody told you I was just a ordinary black kid not a care in the world.....somebody lied.

But like any superhero story, this one is all about a girl. The girl next door. Katie Reid. The woman I loved since before I even liked girls. I'd liked to tell you that I was her boyfriend. Aw hell, I'd even take being in the friend zone. But like usual, I'm just that guy in the background with no friends. Aside from my buddy Lamar Liggins, son of Lucious Liggins: CEO of Liggins Incorporated.

•••••••••

Huey was running along side the bus, almost about to miss it because he was brushing his teeth. The students inside the bus were throwing stuff out the window at him as he ran down the street after the school bus.

The bus driver finally came to a stop as Huey ran into the bus doors opening for him. The students all laughed at him as he walked down the isle, glancing at his crush Katie.

Huey sat in his usual spot, the very end of the bus since it was usually crowded. He went to the usual preppy boarding school, Harmon Academy. When he got to school, he caught up with his best friend Lamar, who was talking to his father in his limo.

"I don't see why I have to go this uppity school full of white kids." Lamar complained. "Well, don't you like it here?" Lucious asked. "You get to to hang out with your rich friends and.....ask out dates." "I ain't worried about girls right now." Lamar told his father as he got out the car. Lamar then ran into Huey, smiling at his friend.

"Hey man." Huey said.

"What you been up to?" Lamar asked.

"Eh, I was about to go on this field trip Biofarm." Replied Huey.

"Oh that reminds me. My dad works for that project with Liggins Incorporated." Lamar saw that his father was walking towards them, feeling embarrassed.

"Hello, you must be Huey Harris." Lucious introduced himself to a handshake from Huey. "The names Lucious."

"My Son Lamar, tells me you're quite the man of science." Lucious added. "Not really. I'm just a smart guy who does smart things." Huey Replied. "I respect that. Your parents must be very proud." Lucious added.

"I live with my grandparents now. They are proud." Huey added.

"Hey you two! Let's move!" The teacher yelled as he got on the bus for the field trip.

"Hope to see you again." Lucious nodded.

Huey and Lamar walked to the bus with the other students. "He doesn't seem so bad." Huey said to Lamar. "Not if you were born into high school snobs." Replied Lamar. "I think he wants to adopt you."

The school bus took them to BioFarm, a research facility that studies cosmic objects from space. They showed the field trip kids the giant meteor they discovered a while ago.

Huey and Lamar looked at the colossal asteroid in awe, as they were only allowed 4 feet away from it. Huey tried to take a picture of it with his phone, but one of his bullies, Jonas and Seth bumped him on the shoulder, causing him to drop his phone near the asteroid. Lamar rolled his eyes at them.

"Leave him alone..." Lamar said as he looked him. "Or what?" Jonas Said as he body checked him. "Or your daddy will fire my daddy?" Mocked Seth. Lamar frowned as his fist balled up. "What is going on?" The administration said. "The next person who acts up on this trip will not get extra credit. I kid you not." The administrator led them away from the asteroid, Huey worried about his phone he dropped.

As the class looked around, Huey saw his crush, Katie looking at all the test tubes. Lamar noticed this. "Hey, you tryna run game on that?" Lamar asked. "What? No man. S-She off the market. Jonas is dating her." Huey Replied nervously. "Man, Jonas is a asshole. You saw that yourself. He just dropped your phone near the asteroid." Lamar said as Huey was eyeing Katie from far away. "Look, if you ain't tryna run game, then I will." Lamar said as he walked towards her. "Lemme show you how a real player do it."

Huey smirked, knowing this wasn't gonna go well. "Interesting." Lamar said as he stood by Katie. "Yeah, rocks floating in space. Fascinating." Replied Katie.

"You know, comets are also asteroids. They're just made out of dust, ice and frozen gases." Lamar said, trying to impress her. "Really?" Katie Asked. "Yeah, they're sometimes called dirty snowballs." Lamar Replied. "Cool." Katie Said as she winked at him.

Meanwhile, Huey looked around to see if any security guards were standing around. He snuck by the security gate and tried to reach for his phone under the mid-floating asteroid. He grabbed it to see that his phone screen was glitching all over. Huey was curious about the asteroid, wondering why it was glowing blue. Huey reached over to touch it, getting distracted by Lamar's voice and accidentally cut his thumb, causing it to bleed.

Huey looked back, holding his thumb in pain as he noticed that his blood didn't look right. It seemed to suck back into skin, turning oddly blue.

"Hey Huey! C'mon, we 'bout to go!" Yelled Lamar. Huey wrapped his thumb up as he grabbed his phone, catching up with his class.
