Huey got back home in the afternoon and knocked at his grandmas door.
"Huey, where have you been? We've been worried sick about you." Grandma Gail Said.
"I'm fine." Huey spoke.
"The school called us today about that boy Jonas. Is there anything you wanna talk about?" Said Grandma Gail worried.
"Look guys.....I had a long day. I don't wanna talk about it." Huey sighed.
".....just one conversation and you can head back to your room." Grandpa Curtis Said.
Huey rubbed his temples and came back downstairs, sitting on the couch.
"Huey, we can't afford you to keep getting suspended." Grandpa Curtis Said.
"You're not mad at me, are you?" Huey asked.
"Of course not. You had every right to defend yourself.....but the white people don't see it that way." Grandma Gail added.
"Our mortgage for our house is running low. We're trying our best to take care of you, Huey." Grandpa Curtis Said.
"What do you mean?" Huey Asked.
"With less money for the house, we're not gonna be able to get more food like we used to. We might have to start going back to Capital Charities." Grandpa Curtis explained.
"I wish there were some way I could help you guys." Huey Replied.
"Oh Huey, that's so sweet of you. But you don't have to do anything. Me and your granddaddy have got this covered." Grandma Gail reassured Huey as he kissed his forehead.
"Thanks guys." Huey smiled softly.
•••••••••••
Huey laid on his bed as he saw the news on his TV. KCTV5 captured him on camera saving the school bus of kids on the bridge. He felt good about himself, seeing himself as a hero.
Later, he watched the old Spider-Man movies and it gave him some inspiration. He began to drew a picture of his uniform concepts. He spent hours, picking the perfect design for his work.
He went on the website H&M to look for a hoodie his size along with a blue mask.
Just then, he got a pop up ad from the wrestling federation. It said that it was offering new contestants.
Huey thought about it and signed up on the website. He remembered what his grandparents said about the mortgage.
"Me and your granddaddy got this covered." Grandma Gail's voice echoed through his mind.
"I can't let the house get taken. I need some money." Huey thought. "Maybe this wrestling gig would get me somewhere..."
He saw on the ad that the prize for the 3 minute match was $700. Huey had to come up with a concept for the ring. He went in his garage and got some of his spray paint cans. He painted a blue H on his hoodie and completed it with a couple of other designs.
He slid her hoodie on once the spray paint dried onto the shirt. He completed the look with sunglasses he found under his bed.
"I look awesome! I can't wait!" Huey Thought.
