"Love is the answer to everything. It's the only reason to do anything. If you don't write stories you love, you'll never make it. If you don't write stories that other people love, you'll never make it." - Ray Bradbury
Chapter 11 EDITED
"Who are you?" Aiden asked
Lexy froze in her spot. She couldn't move a muscle anymore.
"W-wha-at?" She stuttered. Her face turned into a pale color, she felt like she was going to vomit.
"He can't remember anything, he must have lost his memory. We think it's the effect of the medicines he has been taking lately. We're going to run some tests just to make sure he's okay." The doctor said.
Lexy started feeling the world moving around her. She sat down on the edge of the bed trying to restrain herself from collapsing.
Then, Aiden started laughing hysterically.
"Oh my God, you should've seen your face! You were literally a statue." He said, and started mimicking Lexy's expression."Wait, so it was a joke? All of this was a joke?!" Lexy yelled.
"Yes" Aiden said, he was still laughing.
"For fuck's sake!" She yelled.
Lexy looked at him with piercing, angry eyes. Aiden's laughter quickly subsided, and started looking at her with sorry eyes.
"You know you scared the shit out of me?"
"And now you're scaring the shit out of me" he said.
Lexy started shaking her head, she couldn't stop the smile that formed on her face.
"Well, he can go out of the hospital now, he's all fine" The doctor said with a smile, and left the room.
After they checked out of the hospital, they headed to the condo.
"So, I will start working in two days. Tomorrow is the first day of school." Aiden said, breaking the silence in the car.
They still had one semester of the school year.
"Well, if Lexy wasn't mad at you she'd say that she can't wait to finish high-school. But, too bad, she is."Lexy said.
Aiden chuckled.
"And if she was talking to you, she would have asked you if you know where she can get a job" She added.
"Well, if she was talking to me, I would have told her that there's no need to work, my job will get us enough money."Aiden replied .
Lexy thought about it for a minute. I don't want to be dependent on him, I wanna be an independent woman, besides, if I get a job, I will have more experience for the future and it will be added on my CV.
"No, I want to work." She said
"Oh, so you're talking to me now?" Aiden said with amusement.
"Mr. Brown, I demand to have a job."She said with the most authoritative voice she could muster. Her eyes were shooting daggers at the side of his head.
"Okay, okay, I'll find you a job" he said, then muttered "you scare sometimes".
. . . .
"Wait, I thought you unpacked yesterday" Aiden asked, opening the door to the room. The bags were still on the floor, and the closets are empty.
"Uhhh" Lexy started stuttering.
"I told you I was still trying to figure out where to arrange them."
"And besides, I'm not talking to you...?" She added.Aiden frowned . Come on, who gets lost in a damn house, she stayed for two hours and still doesn't know their way around to the closet. Where was she? Well, she can't be cheating on me because she doesn't know anyone here. He thought.
Aiden frowned, then said.
"We need some things for the house. Let's unpack, then we can go to the grocery store" ."No, you unpack, and I will head to the grocery store. If both of us stay here, we won't be able to make it to the store before dawn." Lexy suggested.
"Okay, love." Aiden said and gave her a peck on the lips.
She smiled warmly at him. God, I'm falling for this man. She thought.
. . . . . .
Roaming through the nearest store's aisles, she spotted strawberries and smiled. They always reminded her of good times with Caytlin, specially when they would spend their Saturday afternoon dipping them into the Nutella jar.
I miss those memories...
Her legs walked her to the cashier, and she started putting her groceries in front of her so she could check out.
Lexy looked up, and saw the cashier eyeing her weirdly. She stared right back at her with a quizzical look."I have never seen you here before. Are you new here?" She asked, breaking the staring contest.
"Yeah, we just moved in yesterday." Lexy replied.
"We?"
"Me and my boyfriend." Lexy said, annoyed at her curiosity.
"Uhh... I'm sorry if I bothered you with questions."
She must have read my mind! LOL.
Lexy chuckled.
"No it's okay. Really.""It's just that we don't get much visitors, especially after the news broke out about the murders..." She whispered.
"Oh..."
"Hey, maybe we could hang out sometimes, and I'll show you around? You can call it a 'Welcome Tour'."
"Yes, sure." She paused.
"But I still haven't got your name or your number." Lexy added."You sure?" The cashier said, looking at the bill between my hands. She finished passing my groceries, and handed me a bill while we were talking.
I looked at it.
Selena ;) Number:...........
Smooth, Lexy thought.
She chuckled, thinking about how she did the same thing to Aiden the first time they met.
Lexy looked back at Selena, and gave her a warm smile."Thank you."
. . . .
She bought what was needed at home, plus the Nutella and strawberries. She drove back to their house, well aware that it's the first time she meets a nice person in Hawaii since she got here.
Selena had brown eyes, long brune wavy hair, and a light skin. She was around 5'7 inches and she had a normal shape.
She seems around my age. Maybe she goes to the school I enrolled to, who knows?
Lexy arrived at the condo, took out the groceries from the car's trunk, and headed towards the front door.
She went into the house, marching her way to the kitchen. The lights were turned off, silence was ruling the house. Lex placed her groceries on the kitchen counter, fingers fidgeting.
"Aiden...?"
"Aiden?"
"AIDEN?"No answer.
