Chapter 14

1 year later

Lexy has been working at the pizzeria for one year now.

Her love for Aiden has grown so much more, and it's still growing day by day. She still feels like someone is watching her, sometimes she sees the curtains moving but she just brush it off and says to herself 'It's just my imagination'

She finally finished her senior year. Now, she's saving up for a real house to live with Aiden, and also for college. After all, they can't live in a condo forever.

She's now in the bedroom watching TV with Aiden.

"*BREAKING NEWS*

A young girl disappeared near a pizzeria owned by The Greys in town. The police is currently searching the area for any sign of a kidnapping. If anyone might have information, please contact the police. For further info, tune in at 8 PM."

Lexy felt Aiden tense next to her.
"Isn't that the Pizzeria that you work at?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

"Yeah, I guess it is." Lexy said.

"You're not going there tomorrow. We'll find you another job, it's too dangerous." Aidenn said.

"No, no, it's okay. I'm sure, now that there's been a kidnapping, Mr. Grey will put even more security guards and he'll make sure that we're safe."

"You're not going there."

"Yes, I am."

"No"

"Yes, I know you're worried, but let me remind you that I still have that pepper spray you gave me."

"It still isn't enough."

"You'll sleep on the couch tonight. Or maybe the front porch?"Lexy said

"Haha, yeah right"

"I swear." Lexy said, provoking him.

Aiden sighed,

"Fine. You can go but I'll drive you there everyday and I'll pick you up from there too." Aiden replied, half heartedly.

"Sounds good to me" Lexy said, smiling.

'Ring Ring' Aiden's phone started ringing.

"I need to get this, it will be for just a minute" He stood up from the couch, kissed Lexy's forehead and went to the backyard.

Just then, Lexy's phone started ringing, it was an unknown number. She picked up.

'Hello.' She said

'Lexy, you need to leave your so-called-boyfriend right now.' The person on the other end of the call said.

'What?! Who are you?'

'I'm Xander, remember? The man you met at the airport?'

How could I forget such a mysterious man?

'What the hell? I said it loud and clear to you to leave me alone.'

'YOU'RE IN DANGER FOR GOD'S SAKE! HE MIGHT BE PLANNING YOUR DEATH RIGHT NOW!' He yelled.

'Well, I know damn well that you aren't better than him now, are you? You're a murderer for god's sake."

He sucked a long breath, Lexy could hear it from the other end.

'You don't know that.' He replied.

'What do you want?'

'You're safety. The man with you is dangerous.'

'He's not, now leave me alone.'

'Lexy, please, I'm saying this for your own good.'

'Why do you even care?!'

'Just pay more attention to his actions and if you need anything call me back on this number. And remeber that a person's true colors will always show within time. You may be fooled for the moment. But be patient and see what happens.'

'You're the last person I'll be thinking of calling if I need something'

'Bye, Lexy' He said in a soft tone.

Butterflies erupted in Lexy's stomach when Xander said her name.

What does he know about Aiden that I don't? He's my boyfriend for fuck's sake, She thought.

Then, she went to the backyard to look for Aiden.

"I told you to kidnap the girl but not in front of the pizzeria that my girlfriend works at!" He hissed.

Lexy frowned. 'Does he have something to do with today's kidnapping?' Lexy thought with wide eyes.

She quickly went into the house and decided to act like nothing had happened. After all, the truth always comes out in the end, no matter how hard we try to hide or stop it. Lies are just a temporary delay to the inevitable.

Then, the door bell rang. Lexy went to open it. Her heart was beating wildly 'What if Xander was right and Aiden is dangerous? What if Aiden is a dangerous criminal and he planned the girl's death? What if he is a gang leader? What if it's the police knocking on the door right now? What if it's a member of Aiden's gang? WHAT IF SELENA WAS KIDNAPPED?

She held the door knob, breathed in and out, then opened the door.

"HEYOO" Selena yelled.

Oh thank baby Lord Jesus. Selena's safe, that's my number one priority right now.

The thoughts quickly hid in the far corner of her mind.

"Oh, it's just you."Lexy said letting out a long breath.

"Who would it be other than me? Are you expecting someone else?" Selena responded while entering.

"No, no. I don't know why I said that."

"I BROUGHT PIZZA" She suddenly yelled while entering the kitchen.

"Did someone mention pizza?" Aiden said, entering the kitchen.

Lexy laughed.

They hung out the rest of the day just watching Netflix and eating.

"It's already 8 PM, I should leave before it gets too late." Selena said.

"You can sleepover, if you want?" Lexy said.

"No, no. I need to get back to my mom, she'll freak out if I sleep outside tonight, especially after this kidnapping thingy.Anyways, thanks for the offer!" Selena said, leaving through the front door.

"Be careful out there!"

"I will" She replied.

Multiple thoughts hunted Lexy, she was tossing and turning around in bed.
Her mind couldn't take it anymore, so she drifted off to sleep.  

What she didn't know, is that she might have to be careful the next couple of days....
