Chapter 18

Lexy sat their with her mouth wide open not knowing what to say. She opened her mouth to say something but no words came out. She opened her mouth and closed it many times without saying anything. She looked like a fish, gawking, lost for words.

Is he serious right now? Or is it a prank? No, no, he's surely just lying to see my reaction. How could the big, strong, gorgeous CEO like a normal girl like me? I've been ignoring him since we first met.

"I-I ha-have a boyfr-friend?" Lexy stuttered.

A look of hurt passed in Xander's eyes.

"You're still with that jerk?" He asked her.
"He's not a jerk, he's caring, loving and he's helped me so much in my life,"
"Helped you in what?"
"He didn't hesitate when I told him I had to move here and he directly told me that he'll follow me here. If it wasn't for him, I would still be lost by now," She stated.

But Xander didn't see that little twinkle that shined in her eyes every time she talked about Aiden. It wasn't there this time. He knew something was up between them. He was going to watch her closely now, he isn't going to shrug everything off like he did last time.

But now, it's kind of different than before. When he was only of age 7 or 8, he was still innocent. Still a child, growing up. He had met this girl and lived his entire childhood with her. It was his real first crush. But now he's 21 years old, with a broken heart. He turned cold, like his father, with same blue piercing eyes.
"That's how you should be if you want to be successful in business." He always remembered his father's wise words. But Lexy put a stop to it. And he fell madly in love. She gave him hope, even though she had a boyfriend.
I don't deserve her, he thought. It ignited the fire within him, seeing her after all this time.

For fuck's sake, he barely knows HER. But it feels like it's just meant to be, him and her, together, forever. It does sound a little cliché, like a high school crush. But she was on his mind the whole damn time, he couldn't get her out of it.

"Look, I know that you don't feel the same about me, but all I'm asking for is to get to know you better. I accept being in the friend-zone if it means being friends. But I don't want to be thrown in the stranger-zone."
He wanted to take any chance of being able to see her, even if it means being friends. I mean, why waste it if it's the only way?
"I don't mind being friends, but there's no way Aiden's accepting it,"Lexy said without even thinking, she was really lost and she couldn't focus on anything.
"We can keep our friendship a secret."
"S-sure" She said, stuttering .
What if Aiden found out, what will I do? He might kill him for all I know, She thought worriedly.

"So let's get to know each other." Xander said, and started talking about himself and asking her questions.

As the time passed, Lexy started feeling more comfortable with Xander, she started trusting him more, she got to know him and he smiled. The BIG BAD CEO was actually smiling, she never thought that he had lips he could move to smile.

He made her forget about all the problems in her life, about what happened with Aiden's phone last night. He made her happy. But she knew that she couldn't keep him like this, she had to make sure that he forgets about her completely.

When they finished eating, he dropped her home and took off. Lexy went immediately to the backyard and changed into Mrs. Cupid. She flew up and followed Xander. She had an idea that she planned carefully. She didn't want to lead Xander on, and she wanted him to move on, forget about any chances of relationships with her and find his true soulmate.

Well, it's time to see if the book I read at the library was right. I will finally know if I can make someone fall in love with his soulmate without shooting both people. But, I don't think that he'll fall immediately in love with his match, I guess he'll get closer to her and know her better and then fall in love with her, Lexy said to herself while flying.

She kept following him and it was getting tiring. Where the hell is he going? She thought.
She couldn't shoot him while he's in his car, because then someone might see her, so she has to follow him and wait till he gets out of his black SUV.

He finally stops in front of a mansion.

'The fuck is he doing here. Is this his house?' Lexy started thinking with wide eyes.
Yeah Lexy, he's a billionaire for fuck's sake!

Then she got out of her trance and focused on shooting him before he gets into the house.
When she shot him, he stopped in his tracks, got his phone out of his pocket and started typing something into it.

What the fuck is he doing? Shoot. Did I make him fall in love with his PHONE?! FUCKING HELL. WHAT HAVE I DONE?! Lexy started panicking.

Then her phone started ringing, it was him. She took it out with trembling hands and the phone fell from her hand, she raced to pick it up before it crashes on the ground, but then she realized that if she goes any lower, Xander will see her as Cupid, so she let it fall and felt her heart falling with it. It crashed down with loud THUD.

Xander's eyes immediately followed the sound. He rushed to it and knew that it was Lexy's from the big red LEXY written on the cover. And obviously, it was ringing with his name displayed. She's always loved this cover, but now, she couldn't describe how much she regrets buying it.

Suddenly, Xander looked up.
