In animal species, many reptiles can be viewed as relating and/or similar to dragons, some even having the name. For example, the Komodo Dragon

We can assume that the unknown animal is a reptile, I see no visible legs which led me on a hunt for snakes. Until I realized, the mouth is not a snake. The jaw is Different, as well as the fact the tongue is not forked and lacks the fangs.
This reptile is not a snake, the mouth following in as an alligator, or even crocodile. Which narrows the list down. We have turtles, which is easily dismissed as it lacks the shell, and honestly the only option we have are lizards.
