Because adventuring with the monster equivalent of a twelve-year-old is gonna make City of Sound the world's most complicated escort mission

Although yes, even though Charlie is now the SoundStep equivalent of eighteen, (which makes him older than Jack, so there's that information you have now) he still looks and acts like this-

If I have to describe Charlie, he's basically a really big kid.

Sometimes he has trouble coping with very heavy stuff. Like watching his family being murdered by humans and having to suffer through discrimination by his own species as well.

Sometimes he just
Forgets how to adult.
He'll break down and curl up and cry for his mother because this kiddo has some serious issues.
Making him feel better usually requires small children's activities. Coloring and singing and begging Jack to make him cookies because Jack doesn't trust him with the stove.

So basically City of Sound is only an escort mission, some of the time.
Because Charlie can put on his big boy pants and kick ass when he really needs to.
You'll just have to tell him how awesome he was at kicking ass afterwards.
Again, huge childhood issues. This kiddo needs some therapy.
