POV | Eleven

"I don't understand." Was all I could manage to say. Kylie just stood there with her mouth wide open.

"I can't believe it. I'm in the upside down." She said staring at the site around her. "Why is the lab in the upside down?" She asks me.

I shrug in response. We start walking around the area, taking in every aspect of the upside down. "There should be a portal near by." I said, remembering everything Dustin has told me about the upside down.

"Do you remember where the portal is?" I ask Kylie. "They would make us unconcious before bringing us here." She said.

"Wait, if this is the lab, the quarry should be that way and Will's house should be near that." Kylie says pointing to a direction.

"Will might have a portal at his place or at the woods." Kylie adds on. I nod in response. We start walking to the quarry. It's really gross and mushy underneath my feet because we are barefoot.

The atmosphere around us is really toxic and the chattering of Kylie's teeth are all I can hear now.

After walking a few more steps, we reach the quarry. Kylie states into the quarry, "I had a dream about this place." She says.

"What was in the dream?" I ask looking into the quarry. "It's really weird, every dream I have end with me falling down this path and dying." She says.

"I feel like we should go down there." She says looking at me. I look into the quarry. There is no water in it. Only the tentacles of the weird upside down creature. There are millions of those tentacles all swimming about in air. "Are you sure?" I ask her with a grossed out expression.

"It looks dangerous. Let's come back here later." She says and begins to walk. I follow her and we reach Will's house. We go into the small store room at the back of his house, hoping that there is a gate.

"Kylie, there is no gate." I say disappointed. "Ugh! This sucks." She says throwing hands in the air. "Any other gate?" She asks me.

"There should be one at the lab, but that will be really dangerous to go back to." I say. She nods and walks out of the store room.

I walk out after and put a comforting hand on her shoulder.

We keep walking towards my cabin in the upside down and suddenly, we hear some one whimpering and mumbling.

Kylie and I look at eachother at the same time. Kylie begins to follow the source of the voice and I hot on her heels.

"Someone come. Shh.." one of them said and the mumbling stopped.

We looked over a rock and there, we saw two kids having the same haircut as me when I was in the lab wearing hospital gowns. They looked at us with scared eyes.

"Hello!" Kylie exclaimed and came in front of me. They just stared at Kylie. "What are your names?" I asked them.

"What is name?" One of the boys asked looking back and forth at me and Kylie. "What are you called little boy?" Kylie asked him. "I Twelve and he Thirteen." The boy with black hair said pointing at the other boy with blonde hair.

Kylie and I just stare at eachother after that. Thirteen people.

POV | Max

"How can you be sure Kylie has powers? And what? No, that can't be." I say frantically to Lucas.

"Look, that's the only explanation for  what happened to Kylie and how both of them went missing at the same time." He says to me.

"Maybe it's a coincidence." I say and he nods in disapproval. "Lucas, it's not possible. When you told me about Eleven, you said that she had buzzed hair and Kylie nowhere has buzzed out hair." He holds my hands underneath table and looks at me.

"Max, I know you are just trying to disagree with me but I know that deep down you are scared to believe me because you it's true." He says to me. He was right. I was scared of losing her to the Demogorgon, Mind Flayer  or whatever that thing is. I don't want to lose her like how Mike lost Eleven. She is the only girl to ever understand me.

I built castles in the air about how Kylie, Eleven and I would have sleepovers without the guys and do girl stuff even though I am not a huge fan of it. We'd talk all night and dress up in goofy outfits.

We'd be three legs of a tripod.

I just sat there in silence and watched my ice-cream slowly melt. "Max, let me get you another cone. Do you want the same thing or something much more tubular." He asked me smiling. I gave him a small smile and nodded my head no.

"Lucas, can we leave?" I ask him. He looks at me and his half finished Rocky-Road. "Its okay, you don't have to accompany me. I just want to be alone for a while. Bye Lucas." I tell him and then kiss his cheek.

"Bye Maxine." He looks at me with a teasing smile as he knows how much I dislike being called Maxine.

"Bye Stalker." I say that leaving him alone at Shivers and make my way home.

I knock on the door and I can here Billy on the other end speaking to someone.

"Max! Come in." Billy says stepping away from the door. "Billy who is it?" I hear a feminine voice ask him from the kitchen.

"Come on, I'd like you to meet someone." Billy says to me and moves ahead of me with me following behind him

"Carolyn, Max. Max, Carolyn." Billy said pointing at Carolyn and I simultaneously. Carolyn was a petit and tall girl. She had straight chestnut hair that reached her waist. Her green eyes shone like emeralds under the light. She was really pretty.

"Hi." I say putting my hand forward for a handshake. She gets up and hugs me instead. "I'm so glad to meet you! Billy has told me so much about you! I love the colour of your hair." She said with genuine happiness that made me smile. I thanked her for the compliment and excused my self to my room.

The moment I entered my room, I fell on my bed and started crying. Kylie.

"Billy, I'll see you tomorrow. Good night." I heard Carolyn say before she left.

"Max! Carolyn.....what's wrong?" He said instantly sitting next to me and stroking my hair.

"It's nothing. Leave me alone for sometime. Please."

"I got you some Pizza and Sea Salt Caramel ice-cream. Eat it when you feel like." He said before leaving.

I wipe my tears and open my journal.

She sat there staring into space hoping to get an idea of where the other one might be.
