Nowa
I glanced sideways at Ghaith as I took in his features. He looked like he was always in control, no matter what the situation. Obviously it suited his profession since he was the headmaster after all, but I wondered what lay beneath the layer of what I was seeing, what he let people believe he is.
"Take a picture. It'll last longer," He spat. I furrowed my brows and wondered what the hell I was supposed to respond to that. He was right after all. I had no reason to look at him like that or look at him at all for that matter.
I tried to move from my position when my face contorted in pain. I squeezed my eyes shut, as the pain from my legs was getting worst, The pain that was caused by Ghaith.
"If you're trying to make me feel bad for you, then don't bother. I don't fucking care about you," He said with a collected voice.
"I'm not trying anything," I replied and looked at him incredulously. "Oh, and don't worry, I know better than to think you would ever care about me" I sighed and was quiet for a moment before I continued, " I'm sorry."
"What the hell are you apologizing for?" He hissed and clenched his teeth.
I was utterly terrified by his sudden mood swing.
"F-for the accident," I replied.
I decided that I was not going to blame Ghaith. I was going to be the bigger person and accept the situation as it was. It was nothing but an accident. I would gain nothing by blaming it all on him; it was not like he could have prevented the accident anyway. He didn't hurt me on purpose, and therefore, there was no reason for me to hold a grudge.
That was why I apologized to him. I wasn't sorry for causing the accident; I was sorry for what he had been forced to go through because of it. Because of that stupid accident I couldn't go to my uncle house and I was forced to marry Ghaith. The accident was neither of our faults, and I was certain he knew and believed that too... somewhere deep inside.
"Who do you think you are...Acting like you are all superior by apologizing when you fucking know it wasn't your fucking fault"
I frowned as I steadied myself on my crutches.
"Maybe we should get back to the mansion," I said tentatively.
"Not with you," He hissed.
"What do you mean ?" I replied calmly.
"Nouhaila, you left Meera alone and that is your punishment, you will walk to the mansion alone"
"Don't call me Nouhaila, my name is Nowa," I spoke calmly before I answered ,"Okay," ,which irritated Ghaith more.
"Why the hell aren't you yelling at me?"
I smiled sadly at him and looked him steadily in the eyes. We stood there, just looking at each other for what felt like an eternity. "Because I'm not the only one who's hurting." I answered.
After what he had told me I became emotional but as for him, he returned to who he really was. The emotionless cold man.
"You're not the only one who's hurting?'" Ghaith echoed incredulously as he entered the car. "Do you even hear yourself? That must be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I won't even dignify that shit with an answer." He scoffed and shook his head.
