Nowa

It was almost midnight. I had talked to my sister about what Fawaz had told me and she was too thrilled to contain her excitement as for me I was still debating if what happened between me and Ghaith was real or a dream.

I had told him that I was leaving and I left and didn't see him fro the rest of the night. He was avoiding me that was for sure. I had packed all of my things and so did Dana and we were ready to leave.

"The plane is waiting outside," Fawaz had informed us as we were sitting in the living room downstairs.

I told Dana to not tell anyone about it since I didn't deal well with goodbyes and I wasn't sure if anyone even cared.

"Come on," I heard Dana amused tone. I couldn't figure out if she was happy that she was going to finally reunite with her husband or the fact that she will finally get out of the Island.

The Island was a dream castle and a part of every wonderland I ever dreamed of but when I dreamed of it, It was always empty from the inside and that what made it a true wonderland.

I walked carrying my small luggage with me as Dana carried her two large suitcases. I was almost surprised to the fact that no one had woken up from the sound of the airplane but maybe they knew and didn't want to come outside.

Edward was standing beside the airplane as I walked outside.

"Are you sure about leaving, wife ?" his voice was loud and quivering.

I gathered whatever courage I had and walked right past him, reaching my hand out to get inside the plane.

"Yes.... Yes I am," I shrugged, my nervousness becoming nonchalance. I could feel his eyes following my movement as I was about to climb the stairs but he held my hand.

I looked at Ghaith, meeting his gaze for a split second, and he grimaced as I did so. From someone else's point of view, it probably looked like one of disgust or hate, but I knew better. I bit my lip and did a semi-grimace-smile at him in return and he scoffed.

"Don't hold her like that, she isn't your wife anymore," Dana interrupted.

"She isn't ?" He smugly adds.

We weren't divorced so legally he was my husband but Dana didn't know and no one knew except for me and Ghaith.

I had begged for Ghaith to not leave me since I didn't want to live alone anymore. I didn't want to return to the country but I can't handle it anymore.

I Know that I don't need him anymore after my talk with Fawaz. He had already told me that there was an apartment that Ghaith had rented for me outside of this island.

What I didn't understand was why was he keeping me beside him ?

He looks at me and comments , "You are not allowed to leave with him."

"Seriously, Ghaith?" I laughed." It's what...forbidden? Should I just serve you for the rest of my life, too?"

"Don't mock me," he growled.

"Well, then don't be so ridiculous."

"Come on Nowa," Fawaz added as he offered his hand for me.

"You don't know him like I do," Ghaith added vaguely.

"At least he is nice," I added.

"Don't talk about things you know nothing about," He growled at me.

"Why are you even replaying to him?" Dana asked trying to push me lightly to finally enter the plane since the loud noise of the engine was too noisy.

The sincerity in his tone and the look on his eyes were too real for him to fake them.

"You made yourself clear when you told me that you don't care about me today, what happened that changed your mind ?" I asked as I got down the stairs.

"The fact that you are too pure to get yourself messed up in what my father is planning," Ghaith stated loudly for me to hear him clearer.

"GHAITH," His father shouted. "I will do what I promised, if you continue talking nonsense," Fawaz threatening tone scared me more than anything did.

"Could you be a little more melodramatic." Dana added out of nowhere as she rolled her eyes.

His voice was quiet when he asked me, "What do I have to say for you to believe me and get this information through your thick head?"

"I don't know," I shrugged, pretending to think for a minute. "Maybe an explanation?"

"MY. FATHER. IS. BAD. NEWS." He said each word as a careful hiss, the anger rising and falling, wavering under incredible strain as he tried to speak softly.

"That's not an explanation," I insisted, annoyed.

"That's the only one you get," he shot back.

"Why Ghaith ? What are you hiding from me ?" I asked.

As I wanted to know more than anything what is it that he wanted to hide from me that he thinks it will break me that bad. What is so horrible that he treats me like that.

"If you want to leave, you can?" He suddenly adds when I demand for more information as he walked inside frustrated as he kicks everything he see in his way to get inside the mansion.

"Don't walk away from this!" I called after him. Then, before I knew what was happening I was chasing after him. I caught him right at the door and grabbed his shirt, throwing all my weight back. He must have been surprised, because he lost his balance slightly, allowing me to shove him up against the doorframe violently. "I'm sick of these lies and fights that end up with your final word of silence!"

He looked momentarily stunned as he looked down at me. My hands were pressed firmly against his chest, with my body leaned over him, my weight holding him to the wood. I was heaving breaths and spitting fire, demanding his attention and seizing what was offered.

Comparing his hight and weight to mine, he could have easily removed my grip but he didn't. "Take your hands off me." His voice was frightening and quiet.

I released him but didn't step back.

"Why did you bring me here?" I whispered. "Why did you marry me ? How did you know about what happened three months ago?"

He was silent.

"Why am I here, Ghaith?" I begged.

We stared at each other for a long time, our bodies on either side of the doorframe. I could feel the proximity like a blaze of fire against my skin. The quiet burned for several seconds.

Then I heard him barely whisper, "Move."

"No," I shook my head. "I'm not finish – "

"MOVE!"

All of a sudden his voice was thunder in my ears. I leapt away from him like I had received an electric shock. In an instant his face was red, eyes blazing, teeth snapping.

"Gha-"

"YOU WANT TO LEAVE , FUCKING LEAVE WITH HIM" he yelled, spit flying from his mouth as his arm shot up to point towards the plane.

His voice contained insanity ,agony ,tears ,and hate.
