It is said that all crimes are paid in this life. If that is true I don't know, however if it is then my father has finally paid for his greed and his pride. These were my only thoughts during his funeral, my tears were fake and real at the same time, he had dragged me in the world of facades and he had used me to gain power, still he was my father, a member of my family and maybe the only person who understood how difficult it is to try and be flawless, maybe. I wondered if he knew... that the perfect daughter he had was more or less a girl full of cracks and emptyness. I was a doll, a doll who appeared perfect but time had proved that I was not as perfect as I wanted and that came in the form of Bella, Kai and Daniel. These three somehow managed to see the truth behind my acting. Maybe because when I faced them I always showed them that I had cracks and a heart that could actually feel. They knew that I was not what I appeared and that's why they were enemies.
- Miss Regina. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. A woman said as she gave me an embrace, she was a friend of my family. I was polite, maybe a bit too polite but I tried my best to look as sad as my pride would allow me.
- Thank you, I appreciate your concern. I said gently. She seemed to fall for it and left, my gaze fell on my mother and my sister. Bella looked at the coffin blankly, no tears, no pain. Nothing, she seemed unfazed by this whole situation, the exact opposite from our mother who was stuck on the coffin crying desperately and begging her dead husband to come back to her. I felt like I was in the middle, I wasn't completely broken but I wasn't also so emotionless towards this unpleasant event. I wonder though... what does Bella feel right now? What does she think? And more importantly what will she do after all this? My thoughts were interrupted by a hand on my shoulder that squeezed me so lightly, I looked back and saw my husband, he looked pale and gloomy, something unusual for him.
- Regina, I will go back home... I don't think I can endure to see so much sorrow in one place.
- That's okay, I don't want you to be uncomfortable, you can go back. I'll come back later... I need time to fully accept the fact that this is the last time I'll see my beloved father. I answered and he nodded, he seem to find this a completely reasonable thought and so he had no reason to object. I saw him leaving but my eye got a glimpse of a female leaving as well, she was heading the same way Simon was. Despite his best efforts to hide, I could see the playfull sparkle and the lust filling his gaze as he looked at the female, she looked at him with the same manner. My eyes didn't even stop staring and eventually I decided to follow, my steps were quiet, my breath calm but my anger was boiling, I had no intention of playing the role of the cheated pathetic little wife. If Simon was planning something that I didn't know then I would make him pay, I would make him suffer till the end of his days. The two of them went behind a building, as I approached I glued myself to the wall and looked on the other side, they were kissing! I knew it! So he was up to something.
- So how is everything going? The woman asked him and he smiled at her.
- All is going well, Regina doesn't suspect a thing. She believes I am the kind husband who loves her and cares for her. She can't imagine that I plan to take all of her power and wealth for myself.
- And after you have everything? What will you do with her?
- I'll get rid of her. She is a real pain, she can't seem to understand a man at all. She's so plain and boring.
- In comparison to me. The woman said and I felt my rage getting the best of me. So he wanted my money huh? Then I had to do something about it. But first I would give that little wench a lesson. No one makes a fool out of me and lives to glote about it. I left the same way I came, without a single sound, I went to my mother's side, this time I had to be quick. I had to make sure no one would get in my way.
- Mother... I think we should begin. As much as it pains me, we have to let him go. I said, my voice only a whisper, my eyes were filled with tears, they were real, not because of my father this time though. It was because of Simon, I couldn't believe I was nearly deceived by him... I was thinking of him as a friend... maybe a bit of a brother but now... now all I could think of was his suffering. However I had a trump card, my father's will. This would certainly give me some sort of help.
- I know... it's just... I can't believe I will never see him again... my love... oh my beloved husband! My mother cried and I pulled her closer to me as I nodded to the two muscular men on the sides of the coffin to begin moving the large black item. Both of the did as they were instructed and all the while the priest was talking I was scheming my revenge and my next move. Bella seemed puzzled by my way of acting, I knew she was because she hadn't stopped staring at me all this time. She wasn't glaring, she was just staring at me with curiousity. Once the ceremony was over we went back to the Kingstar estate, there we kept company to our mother until she fell asleed. Then Bella took me to my old bedroom and looked at me in the eyes.
- What happened with Simon?
- Hm?
- I saw you following him and a woman.
- Ah! That, Well, it's nothing really, I just found out that he's cheating on me and he plans on taking everything the Kingstar family owns. After he's through with it he plans on getting a divorce and throw me away. I said, Bella's eyes widened and she seemed shocked by the news.
- What? But I thought that he... that he...
- That he loved me? Yeah, so did I. Apparently we both were pretending to love each other. There is nothing more than pure hypocritical love. I said and she seemed to pity me.
- Oh dear, Regina... what are we going to do?
- We?
- I can't let you do this alone, he is targeting all of us. Me, you, mother... he wants to destroy all of us.
- Then it's decided, the two of us must work together in order to avoid being utterly destroyed.
- So what is our first move?
- We have to wait until the will is opened, then we can proceed. We must make sure that the secret this family has will be kept hidden. We will destroy all the document our father held about his dark buisness, to those that are currently into development... we have to give them to someone trustworthy.
- How about Kai? Or Daniel?
- No! I don't trust them enough to give them such an important task.
- They will do as instructed... well, if you are willing to be honest and true to them... I think that they will listen.
- You mean that I must reveal my imperfection to get a deal.
- Come on! Don't let your pride get the best of you sis. We need to work together in this. Daniel AND Kai will certainly be usefull allies. Bella said reasonably.
- You're thinking like me and dad, I like it. I replied and she smiled at me.
- I am your sister.
- Yeah, hopefully you will not betray me, otherwise you better hope heaven has enough space for you.
