What happened last night? I couldn't remember anything from about midday yesterday. Nothing made any sense. Why would I wake up and have had all these things happen to me without me knowing. I looked over to the other side of the bed where Zayn was. He was fast asleep and not moving any time soon.
I snuck out to the bathroom, locked the door and looked at myself. I had makeup smudged all over and tear tracks running down my porcelain face. I could tell that something bad was going to happen. I tried to think back, but the last thing I could remember was coming home after the show last night in London. I frowned trying to remember but nothing came to me. It didn't make any sense. How could I just lose my memory over a period of several hours. It just wasn't possible.
I walked back into my room and examined the jar and the note. I noticed some faint lines on the note that weren't from the writing on the front. I turned it over and read,
"Don't tell anyone, or say goodbye to your loved ones."
I quickly took the jar and threw it out the window and tore up the note. No one could know about this ever. I didn't want to see anyone getting hurt and then knowing it was my fault. I heard a faint rustling from the bed and see Zayn waking up. I climbed back in bed and pretended that nothing had happened. He woke up and looked at me with the early morning fogginess in his eyes,
"Morning, babe, how'd you sleep?"
"Mmh, good." I said, with a pretend morning voice, I'd already woken up, with a scare might I add. I was curious, well more than curious, desperate, to know what happened last night, so I had to ask,
"What happened last night?"
He replied exactly what I could remember,
"You finished the show at the O2, then came home after."
This wasn't right, why did my memory and his memory line up but the physical evidence say otherwise.
"Why were you asking?"
"Oh, morning brain, I can't really remember anything much." I lied quickly. I couldn't let him catch onto the fact that something had happened that neither of us could remember, it would cause so much more harm than good. All of a sudden I got a text,
"Good thing he believed your lie, otherwise you might have been saying goodbye."
I shuddered as I was reading it and Zayn must have seen.
"Babe, who just texted."
"Oh just Jade telling me to get up right now because she's picking me up in 20 minutes." I lied about the text but Jade really was picking me up in 20 minutes and I did really need to get up, so I got up and got ready, while Zayn stared at me confused, or maybe just perved on me while I was changing, I wasn't too sure.
Once I was ready I went out to the kitchen and Zayn followed me. I found some leftover Chinese and heated it up in the microwave. I wasn't really bothered that I was eating fried rice for breakfast because I was starving because I didn't have time to cook something and there wasn't anything else in the house. Zayn sat next to me at the kitchen bench and shared some of my food. There was small conversation passed, but nothing large.
I heard a knock on the front door, kissed Zayn goodby and opened the door to see an extremely impatient Jade. I hadn't kept her waiting for that long. It was exactly 10 am so I wasn't late, for once, but once again, Jade was waiting. She grabbed my hand impatiently and dragged me to the car.
"Whoa there, impatient much?" She was starting to push me over the edge.
"Sorry, but you were taking forever." She replied simply, with an emphasis on forever. I was taking my time, but only to tick her off.
We got into her car and drove off to the arena. It was our last night in London before we headed off again. The only night on this tour we got to sleep at home. The car ride was silent. We were both thinking very intently.
My phone buzzed and I flinched, hoping it wasn't from the unknown anonymous number. Instead it was from Zayn, telling me that he loved me and that he would be coming to the show tonight. I was excited that he was coming but it also added an extra layer of nerves because performing in front of people you don't really know, or only know in passing, is less nerve racking than knowing that your family and friends, or boyfriend, was going to be there. It's easy to perform in front of people you don't know because you'll never see them again, so if you mess up it won't matter, but when you perform in front of people you love, if you mess up you'll never live it down. I texted him back telling him that I loved him as well and that he just made me extra nervous for the show tonight. I switched off my phone and turned back to Jade.
"So..." I started off awkwardly, there really was no way to break this silence without being awkward, "How's Sam?"
She smiled, her eyes still on the road.
"He's good. Everything's good." When she said everything it was slightly faked, but I shook it off as if it was nothing, yet she still had this gleam in her eye showing that she really did love him. "What's going on with you and Zayn, besides being engaged."
"It's good, he's good. We're good. We still haven't started planning for the wedding yet because I am probably the most unorganised person on the planet and he's extremely good at procrastinating." She laughed, knowing my organisational skills. It felt nice to just have a girly chat about our lives. It was as if nothing was wrong, in a way there wasn't anything wrong, but there was. That doesn't make sense at all, but at the same time it does. I mean how were we supposed to know that this person, or well thing (hey you never know it could be a computer), was an actual threat?
We arrived at the arena for rehearsals. We got out of the car and were escorted, well more dragged, inside. We found our dressing room, which we were in last night, without getting lost, which was a miriacle. Once we were in there we saw Jesy and Leigh, who were so much more organised than us, well, me. They both look at us, in fake annoyance. Jesy sighed and annunciated,
"Could you two have taken any longer, we've been here for almost half an hour, unlike you two slow pokes."
We all cracked up. She couldn't have said that any weirder. She came out with that entire speech in a weird Australian-cross-Scottish accent that was obviously was the first thing that came to her head. The entire effect of it was hilarious. We were interrupted from our laughing by a loud knock on the door. There was a stagehand who had a huge boquet of red roses. The roses were a blood colour and they made me shudder at the sight. The stagehand said that they were for Jesy, I could have sworn I saw her face drop but, once again, I ignored it. She took the roses and looked at the note. Her smile definitely faultered but I couldn't just ask her if something happened last night to her as well.
I ignored the fact that I definitely didn't know who the roses were from and decided to cover for her,
"Hey, Jesy, I thought you and Jordan saw each other last night." I put an emphasis on 'last night' earning a slap in the arm from Jade, but Jesy's face was well worth it. She blushed and looked down and then came back with,
"So? Can't he still send me flowers?" I couldn't let her get off that easy,
"So you're not denying that you had sex last night?"
She glared at me, so me and Leigh cracked up. Jade just kind of stood there giggling but didn't want to get on Jesy's bad side, yet I still decided to take it one step further,
"So you did? Well at first I was just taking a lucky guess but then again, I'm normally right." That made Jade completely lose it, and Jesy couldn't help it either. So we ended up literally rolling around on the floor laughing. It was just one of those moments.
When we were finally enjoying ourselves, Leigh's phone buzzed and she jumped when she heard it. This time I couldn't just ignore it. We definitely got roped into this together. I had to know what was going on so I stole Leigh's phone,
"Having fun? Well maybe not for long..." was what I read. Then I knew it. We were all in this together.
I look at the other girls and they are all thinking the same thing as me. So I just came out with it.
"What happened last night?"
