Reassurance

She reaches out her arm

Throws it around me

The sun is smiling,

I feel almost happy

She says, walk with me

And I follow, so surely

For without her I'm not

Quite sure who I would be

But I don't know why

This doesn't feel complete

Like I'm missing something somewhere

But by now I think I'm beat

Fitting in

It's tiring

Getting left out

It's terrifying

But to savor just one moment

Of someone catching your back

Or of someone catching your heart

And never giving it back

Of someone knowing your name

Without you saying it first

Of someone saying it's okay

When you know you're at your worst

I think it may be worth

A late night or two

Of endless thoughts that always ask

Are you still being you

Figuring it out

Is as hard as it seems

With time, so fleeting

It's difficult to know what this all means

I'm not saying I'm wise

By admitting my mind's unrest

But if it helps to know

You're not alone in this mess
