Sunflowers

However long it may take me

To notice your absence

It sure won't be long

Until your words turn to acid

Until your rose water cheeks

Disgust me with the mere thought

Of me blushing as you speak

Or my heart pounding as we'd walk

For your name holds no meaning

In this once infected mind

Where sunflowers grew tall and leaning

Toward a sun that made me blind
