i led him out of the office and we stared at each other. hm, he's pretty cute.
"i'm actually not that bad in English," he suddenly spoke up.
i was taken aback by how easily and fluently his english was after whatever his parents told me.
"then why would you need a person to bring you around?" i asked, walking beside him while showing him around the school.
he shoved his hands into his pockets. "i don't know. i just thought i wouldn't be able to make any friends on my first day here so i thought i could first make friends with my 'tour guide'."
he smiled and two dimples showed up. ah, dimples. my weakness.
"what's your name?" i asked, looking at him to find him already staring at me.
"taeyun, jung taeyun."
"we're not in Korea anyway so i don't need to address you formally, right?" i asked and he shrugged.
"your choice," followed by a weird silence surrounding us.
finally, i spoke up.
"your classes are all in that block and mine are in the other block so we're separated most of the time. is that okay?" i asked and he whipped his head towards me.
"진짜 (really)? 왜 (why)?" i frowned. didn't the principal tell him?
"i'm studying different subjects so we'd be in different blocks. i think the only day i have the same subjects with you is on Thursday."
"oh," i walked him to his class.
"well, have fun on your first lesson of the day. 안녕 (bye)," i waved and turned around, heading back to my block.
he grabbed my shoulders and turned me around. "yah, the principal freed you from lessons the whole day to accompany me."
i dropped my mouth slightly. really? is my dream really coming true?
"okay then, what class are you in?" i looked at his timetable. 10N. shit.
"아니 (no), she wouldn't be that nice. i'm gonna head back. bye!" i turned and yet again, he pulled me back.
"너는 왜- (why are you-)," he sighed, "am i a burden to you?" he looked exhausted.
i felt guilty. "아니, 안돼 (no). okay then, let's go into class," i sighed and comb my fingers through my hair.
i knocked on the door and entered. "ms. susie? new student."
she stopped teaching and motioned for me to enter. he took slow steps into the class and bowed. everyone looked at him weirdly.
"you don't need to bow here. we're not in Korea," i whispered to him.
but since he was so tall, i had to tip-toe to whisper so, as I was trying to stand normally, i slipped but he caught me midway. i quickly got back up and accidentally made eye contact with him.
