I stood at my locker until the one minute bell rang, waiting for Shawn to come to my locker and walk with me to my first hour. Shawn hadn't missed a day, unless he texted me the night before or the morning before I made it to school, saying he was sick and couldn't make it.
I sighed and shut my locker, deciding to walk myself to my first hour. "Bostyn Jackson from first hour." I knew the voice as soon as they had said my name.
I turned around and saw Cody, the boy who gave me the ride home last night. He walked up next to me and smiled. "Cody Woods from first hour, hey." I smiled.
"I see you've recovered from last nights party." He laughed.
"Not much to recover from, just some pop and snacks, but yes." I grinned.
"Same here."
As we rounded the corner towards our class I saw that he was carrying his math book in his hands. "Do we need those today?" I asked as I pointed down to his book.
"Yeah, the teacher said so at the end of class yesterday." I knew that I didn't have enough time to go get mine from my locker since the one minute bell had already rung. "Forget yours?" He asked after seeing my facial expression.
"Sadly." I frowned.
"We can share mine."
-After School-
My phone buzzed as I put my hair up into a bun and turned on the TV in my room. The text was from Shawn.
Shawn- Hey, are you home?
Me- Yes.
Shawn- Can I come over?
Me- If you want I guess.
Shawn- Ok. See you in a few.
I left him on read and continued to flip through the channels on my TV. Within no time the doorbell downstairs was ringing, then I heard footsteps.
"Bostyn?" Shawn called from downstairs.
"Coming." I slowly got out of my bed and walked down the stairs. Shawn's hair was all over the place and he looked like a mess that hasn't showed recently. "You look awful!"
"Thanks, I came straight over from Jordan's."
"Yeah I figured." I rolled my eyes as I grabbed an orange from the counter and started to peel it.
"I feel awful."
"As awful as you look?" I asked without even making eye contact with him, I just stared at the orange in my hand.
"Look i'm serious." I could tell he was frowning from his voice. "I took you to the party and then I completely bailed, and I was an idiot and got drunk and stayed. I'm just glad you made it home okay, I feel awful you had to walk alone at night in the cold."
"I didn't walk." I corrected him.
His head perked up from looking at the ground. "You didn't?"
"Nope."
"Who took you home? Amanda?" He asked.
"No a boy from my first hour did." I made eye contact with him again, and he looked confused.
"Who?"
"You don't know him, his names Cody Woods. He's new this year." I informed him.
"You're not one to get into a strangers car." One of his eyebrows was higher than the other.
"Who said he's a stranger?" I asked as I ate the last orange slice in my hand.
"Anyways, i'm glad he took you home, that was really nice of him."
"I agree." I grinned.
"And sorry about not telling you I wasn't coming to school, did you have to walk alone?"
"No Cody walked with me." I said nonchalantly, trying not to grin because I knew that all this Cody talk was bugging Shawn.
"Man I make one mistake and you've already replaced me with this Cody guy." Shawn laughed as if it was a joke but I could tell it wasn't, but I faked a laugh anyways.
"Guess we weren't on the same page last night, but that's okay."
"No it's not."
"Just drop it, okay? I actually had a good ending to my night."
"How?" He asked, wanting details.
I knew that nothing actually happened, but I wanted to see how Shawn would react. "Or we going to get food or just sit here and have girl talk?"
"Oh, so now you're dodging questions?"
"I easily could have dodged your texts, but I decided to be the bigger person." Shawn sank lower in the chair he was sitting in. "Now are you driving or am I?"
"Me, and i'm paying too, I owe you." He stood up and I followed him towards the door.
"That's the spirit!" I smiled.
