I went upstairs and straight to the bathroom to shower. After showering I threw on pajamas and threw my hair up before returning to my bedroom.
I heard a knock on my door as soon as I sprawled onto my bed. "Come in." I said.
The door slowly opened and my mom's face appeared, the light from the hallway shining on her. "Goodnight Bostyn, happy birthday."
I sat up and smiled at her. "Thanks, mom. Goodnight."
She nodded and closed the door again. I turned over and went to check my snapchat when I saw I had received a text from Shawn.
Shawn: Happy Birthday again. So sorry I couldn't see you today.
I smiled at his text, but then felt sad again.
Bostyn: Don't worry about it. But thank you, miss you.
Shawn: Miss you more than you could ever imagine.
I smiled at his text then locked my phone and turned the lamp on my bedside table off.
As soon as I was about to fall asleep my phone buzzed again, making me jump. I squinted at the bright phone screen to try to read the words on the screen.
Jason: I know it wasn't the best, but I still hope your birthday was good. Goodnight.
I put my fingerprint in and started to type back to Jason.
Bostyn: It was great! Thank you, Jason.
Jason: Anytime.
I debated locking my phone and going back to sleep before shaking off that thought and getting on twitter. Before I could get halfway through the new tweets on my timeline, a new text from Jason showed up at the top of my screen.
Jason: Hey, how about we do something tomorrow? Maybe to help make up for the birthday you had today.
Bostyn: Yeah, I would like that! Just text me a time and where and i'll be there.
Jason: Want me to pick you up at two?
Bostyn: See you then.

"Ava and her mom dropped your car off this morning." My mom said as she slid me a cup of coffee.
"Really? That was nice of them, i'll make sure to text her in a little bit."
"Good idea." My mom smiled. "What plans do you have today?"
"Just going out with a friend, why?" I asked.
"You're dressed really nice, but you look pretty."
"Too nice?" I asked.
"Not at all." She set down her mug and smiled at me. "Who's the boy?"
"Jason." I heard a car park outside. "And he's here." I grabbed my wallet and phone and walked towards the door. I stopped. "Wait. How did you know it was a boy?" I asked.
"I just know."
"See you around six, i'm assuming."
"Keep me posted please." She called after me as I shut the door behind me, my white high top converse smacking against the welcome mat.
I looked up and saw Jason in his car. I waved to him and smiled, and he did the same.
"I was just about to come knock at the door." He told me as I got into his car.
"Well no need." I laughed. "I heard your car pull into the driveway."
"Good hearing." He grinned, swiping his chocolate brown hair out of his face.
"Thank you." I laughed. "So where are we going?"
"Well i'm not exactly sure what your favorite thing to do is, but my favorite thing to do on my birthday is go to an arcade with my little brother."
I looked over at him and smiled.
"I know I know, it's super lame. But I don't know I was just thinking that-"
"No." I cut him off. He looked over at me for a second before looking back at the road. "I love that idea, I haven't been to an arcade in forever."
"Well Bostyn, that's about to change."
