"Any plans for your birthday?" Aaliyah asked me as we sat in her room watching TV.
"Not yet, I don't really know if i'm going to do anything or not." I shrugged. "But if I do, you're definitely on the guest list!"
"Well I would hope!" She laughed. "Kidding."
"No you're not." I laughed.
"Maybe not, but let me help you out."
"Help me with what?" I asked.
"Whatever you want to do for your birthday."
"I think it's just going to be something really small." I shrugged. "Probably just dinner with you, Ava and me, since Shawn's not in town anymore."
"I'm sure he wishes he could come back."
"Yeah, he probably does." I said, feeling down. "But it's not his fault, he's busy."
"He is really busy." She nodded. "He only has time to facetime or call me once a week!"
"That's too bad." I frowned.
"But this is what he needs to do, so my mom says all we can do is support him."
"I agree." I smiled.
"Want to see what he got me?" She asked as she jumped off the bed.
"Of course." I laughed at her excitement.
She went to her closet and pulled out a pink crew neck. "It's the exact same as the one he got you, just mine is pink, not purple."
"Cute." I smiled.
"Thanks, i'm assuming yours is too."
"Thanks."
"You sure you don't want to do something big for your big one eight?" She asked me as she plopped back down next to me and turned up ICarly.
"I'm positive." I smiled. "I'm not really the party type."
"That's what Shawn always says." Aaliyah grinned.
"Shawn said that?" I asked.
"Yeah, he said that you hate parties, and that no matter how hard he tries, he doesn't think you'll ever change."
"How rude!" I said, acting offended, even though I kind of was.
"Don't be, he told me that you partied it up in Italy." She shoved my shoulder.
"I wouldn't say that." I shook my head.
"I wish I could have gone with you guys." She frowned.
"I wish you could have too."
"Shawn barely even speaks Italian, I know more than him!" She ranted. "I should have gone, not him! And he said all he did there was club anyways, but he made me promise not to tell my parents."
"He was a VIP at the club!" I told her.
"No way!" Her mouth dropped open. "My brother? VIP?"
I nodded. "Yup."
"How?" She asked.
"He's Shawn, we both know that he can do anything if he sets his mind to it!"
Aaliyah let out a loud laugh. "That's true. But how exactly did he do it?"
I sighed, finally giving in. "The bartender likes him, thought he was older."
Aaliyah screamed. "Get out!"
"I'm serious!"
"My mom would go crazy if she heard about this!"
"But she can't, remember what you promised Shawn?"
"I remember." She frowned, the excitement in her voice quickly fading.
"Did Shawn like her back?" Aaliyah asked. "Of course not because he likes you."
"I'm not sur-" I stopped as soon as I comprehended what she just said. "wait what?" I asked.
"Wait what, what?" She asked. "Oh me saying he likes you?" She acted oblivious.
"Yeah, that."
"Please, Bost, we both know you already knew, get the shocked expression off your face."
"I don't think you're right."
Aaliyah stopped in her doorway and looked back at me. "I'm always right. Macaroni and cheese?"
"Yeah i'll be down in a second."
