That night seemed like one of the longest of your life. You lay awake, though every time you closed your eyes, all you could see was him, sprawled on the grass. All you could think of was Levi. He was everything to you, he was complicated, strange and beautiful, just as your inner feelings for the Corporal were. You wanted him to hold you close, wanted to feel his mouth on yours. As much as you loved the agony of thinking about it you still longed for sleep. For that moment where it won over your body and set you in a death like trance until morning light came.

You could bear it no longer. Tearing back the covers, you sat up and fumbled for your sketchbook under your pillow. Maybe drawing the scenery out the window might calm you, the brightness of the moon, a sky of stars, the dark silhouettes of trees overhead. Though, as you turned your head to look out, the sight made you gasp and drop your pencil. It clattered soundlessly on the floor. There were two blue eyes shimmering under a mass of black hair, a lean body, thick, dark grey and muscular. Dark paws, dark tipped tail. Sharp nose, upright ears. You nearly yelped aloud. A wolf. A real wolf. Sweat dripped down the side of your neck but not of fear. In excitement. Why were you not startled? Anyone elses instinct would be telling them to run, they might as well be frozen with fear but you just edged forward in your bed, forcing yourself to ascend and slowly walk towards the window. The back of your head pounded with every step. Your shaking hand grappled for the handle. As you yanked it open a gust of wind blew in sending a shiver through you, dancing the curtains around like ghosts in the wind. You knew that scent. That sweet, luring scent. There was a small space now between you and the wolf. Staring was all you could manage, though the gaze said it all. You sat down, trusting the wolf to come to you. This familiarity was making you tingle with pleasure and desperation. You wanted this wolfs company, in the midst of all this fighting, this quarrel between man and titan. He was pacing forward, slowly but surely, towards your outstretched hand, trusting you, his head bowed as if you were part of some royalty. "Come on," you said. "I won't hurt you." You wanted this moment to last long badly. It seemed to last forever, for as soon as the creature was just centimetres away from you, he pressed his nose into your outsretched hand, sending a sort of new burst of energy through you, making you shiver. This moment would never come again, so you treasured it with your heart, wanting it to never end.

The wolf paced around you, the muscles rippling from underneath his thick grey coat, his dark mane gleaming and waving in the wind. He sat down beside you and looked at the moon, it's bright light glowing in his blue eyes.

"Its fascinating isn't it," you said, resting your chin on your knees. "Is it true that wolves howl at the moon? Or was that just a myth made up long ago?" He didn't reply, but the look he gave you seemed to hold yours, as if he were trying to tell you something. This could be the most beautiful creature on the planet. It could be an angel in disguise for all you knew. But in that moment, you knew that you had grown desperate for him to never leave your side in this world of wrath and ruin.

Sleep was finally beginning to take hold of you. You closed your eyes and allowed yourself to sink down on the cold concrete below you. Through closed eyelids, you sensed your wolf stirr, then you could feel no more. Though you felt yourself being lifted and carried into your bed by a pair of strong arms. They placed you onto the mattress and you allowed it to hold you, allowing your body to slip away out of consciousness. The blanket was swept over you. You felt the eyes of your wolf watching you for a while more, never leaving your still body. Then the last thing you saw was his silhouette against the pale light of the moon, and he was gone. You could have sworn you knew to whom those blue eyes belonged to.
