You sat near the stables with your sketchbook and pencil and huffed, pushing out strands of your (h/c) hair out of your face. Sometimes the life of being part of Captain Levi's scouting team could be a little too much for you to handle. You were not exactly a social butterfly for a start and disliked the company of most other people. Your little so called cadet friends were used to this life, but you missed your life, the comfort of family. But knowing that there were things to fight for beyond the wall, that's what you gave up your life to do. You often heard what it was like out there from the books you always had your nose in, unlike the other children. For long years of your childhood you read of lush rainforests, jagged mountains that reached high into the clouds, plants, vast oceans. Your sketchbook filled with drawings of what you imagined the world to be. It was beautiful but cruel. Like a rose, you always thought to yourself. Roses had layers of petals, meaning it's true inside was shielded and it was something quite complicated and unpredictable. Just like the world.
The company of living things like animals always gave you comfort, not to mention the odd little company of Levi sometimes. You began to sketch the little black dog, whilst deep in thought about Levi. The eyes of the little black critter could almost match those sincere dark blue eyes of him. Everything was quiet for a moment, apart from some small things like the stamping of horse hooves, the scratching of your pencil moving slowly back and forth across the paper. Then a voice sounded somewhere from behind you. And with it... a purr? Or was that a growl...
"Mind if I have a look (Y/N)?" You knew that deep, mesmerising, alluring voice all too well. The voice so beautiful it gave you shivers. Though it was sometimes monotonous but this time it seemed the corporal was in a good mood. But what could he possibly be doing here watching you?
"C-corporal Levi?..." you said, turning round. Like a phantom, he stepped out of the shadows and you were stunned to silence for a moment, gasping internally. Levi approached you, his furrowed brows lifted and maintaining the same stern but cute looking face. You instantly felt a rush of unwavering confidence. Something you hadn't really felt in a long time.
"Hey corporal," you said, trying to sound as friendly and less scared as possible. You continued drawing the dog like nothing had happened and his eyes widened as he tilted his head to one side and peered at your book. He leaned closer and you held back a squeal of delight and you felt his breath ever so slightly brushing your neck. "Wow (Y/N), never knew you were an artist."
"Oh it's nothing," you told him. "Just a quick sketch."
"Who taught you to draw like that?" he asked striding around you. You heard a small thump and he was beside you in an instant. Your cheeks went bright scarlet as he sidled closer to you. You just kept up the confidence and kept sketching, occasionally throwing a little smile in his direction. "You seem very patient just watching me," you pointed out after a while when you had finished the sketch. "You don't mind spending your time with...me? Am I not a little...well, boring?"
"Mind?" he said, raising an eyebrow. "Tch, not one bit. I rarely get to talk to you when people are watching if you know what I mean. I'd also do anything to get away from that crazy Hanji."
You giggled a little. "Yeah, Hanji is a little crazy but I'm sure she's nice once you get to know her." Levi looked at you with a sort of saddened expression, then hugged his knees, staring into the distance. "Well, I just wish she'd be more careful with her experiments," he sighed. "I get pretty worried."
"Me too," you admitted."Lie down (Y/N) he said. "We're gonna need a little relaxation."
"Oh, ok," you said nervously. He lay down on the grass, yawned and stretched his arms out. "Its a beautiful day," he murmured, closing his eyes. You smiled, pure and happy, wanting nothing more than to just tackle him and roll around in a field of daisies like kittens. But even so, this moment was perfect. You stared at him, Levi sprawled carefree out on the grass, the top button of his shirt undone and his sleek raven hair blowing freely in the wind. He was perfect in every way. He looked like nothing could ever phase him; he had been the Levi on the battlefield with swords and skin stained with titan blood. Now he was a completely different person. More happy, more relaxed. "Yeah," you said. "Ofcourse it is."You heard a a that was deep and rumbling. That purring sound. "Levi?" He opened an eye and you were startled to see that he had moved closer to you. The purring sound grew louder. You realised with a jolt of curiosity that it came from him. He was looking deep into your eyes, his sensual lookign mouth unmoving but his eyes were lit up and saying it all. He was purring beautifully in a way that made your heart recognise it as nothing more than sweet music to your ears. "Levi, you can purr?" You smiled. "It sounds...cute. Do it again." Levi blushed and sat up, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry," he said quickly. "That wasn't purring, it was...just heavy breathing. "No, i'm sorry, that sounded pretty wrong," you said quickly, riveting your gaze to the floor. Im so stupid, you thought to yourself. How could I say such a wierd thing to the corporal? He brushed his fingers lightly with your hand, making you shudder. Then he got up and started to leave. "Wait!" you called. He froze and turned around, his hawklike stare piercing your heart like Cupids arrow. If only he could see right through you. You needed to know more about him. You were bursting with too many questions.
"I'll be back tommorow, or some other time," was all I said. "If you can see me."
Then he was gone, leaving you feeling alone with your thoughts. Levi was more complicated than he seemed at first. The question tugged at your brain, never letting go for a second: who was the real Levi? What was he hiding from you?
