Levi POV:

I stifled a groan as the sunlight hit my face. My muscles were crying out in pain, a side effect of shifting from one skin to another too often. It had hurt so much most of the time, like your muscles were being ripped apart, bursting open to make way for new skin. Now the pain was just about half under my control. And I was doing it for her, so I knew exactly what my motivation was.

I found my head still resting on her shoulder from the last pleasurable night. Then it occurred to me that I was an idiot for not thinking this through. She could get in trouble for sleeping with me, clothed or not. I'd also be dead if they caught me, whether I was humanity's strongest or not. There were still certain restrictions here. I reluctantly and slowly moved my head off her shoulder and slipped off the bed. Humans it seemed were deep sleepers, especially her. Her (h/c) hair was sprawled out on the pillow. She was insanely beautiful in her sleep even and had a sort of fragile look about her. You certainly don't deserve her, I thought to myself as I leaned down and ever so softly kissed her on the head between her eyebrows, so as not to wake her. I pulled back quickly just incase I would arouse her suddenly. She lay perfectly still, just as expected. So I scribbled a quick note for her so as not to worry her about my sudden morning disappearance and left the room, back to my duties it was, without another look back at my beautiful girl. That day I was needed in commander Erwins office anyway, so at least it was kind of a good thing I woke up early. Though, I was leaving the comfort of staying with my love behind.

You:

Stale and fairly recent wolf scent, was the first thing you thought as you sat up in bed. He was gone, replaced by only his smell. It would always be lingering around wherever he had been. The slight tang of wolf. You learned to get used to it, unless it was one of those days he would become self conscious that he smelled and would use a strong perfume to cover it up. Hygiene it seemed was key if you lived as a werewolf. And so was regularly trimming your fur that appeared at the jawline. Like a beard, but fur obviously.

You scanned the room, eyes falling on the note that said Werewolfs girl on it. Charmer, you thought, picking it up and reading inside. Left early, don't want anyone wondering where I am. See you round, love you. Xxx. ♡

Probably a busy man today. You left the sketchbook buried in your bag for the day, slipped on your clothes and the uniform jacket and paused to fish the sketchbook out and rip out a piece of paper, then stuffed it in your pocket. You trudged out your room, still struggling to push sleep and nausea out of your head.

You had tea downstairs with Hanji, though you barely touched it so it grew cold by the minute. Being her good friend you listened to her news and thoughts on the recent Titans that were being held captive, this time she had named them Sawney and Bean. The last two held captive she had named Chicatilo and Albert. She honestly picked the worlds most bizarre names. It was obvious she was weird and scary most of the time but you found that insane people could sometimes have the most interesting outlook on things, such as her view of Titans. Though sometimes it concerned you. Everyone was pretty much at the brink of extinction because of these beasts as it was known already, yet someone had the nerve to consider the cruelty behind what we were doing to them. Humanity was complicated, so complicated. And she talked about them like they were just badly behaved pets, not the savage flesh eating monsters they were.

It looked like you were on clearing the stables. You loved this job, though the only thing bad about it was sometimes the noise and the horse crap. First you gladly volunteered to give Levi his tea. His favourite tea was a deep green looking nettle tea, which was quite steaming hot as he liked it and you cursed as your fingers made contact with the saucer. Sometimes while you were not needed, or when there wasnt much research going on in which you were called to, wasn't often as it was all strictly straightforward (or, so you thought) here, you would quickly rush around as a 'maid girl', which meant delivering paperworks, news and occasionally tea, mostly black and nettle to people. You had lived with tea, research and slaughter all these years, it was easy to get used to.

Levi was in Erwins office with him when you got there. "Pardon me for interrupting," you got out, still nervous around the commander most of the time. "Corporal, I have your tea." He gave you a smile as you walked over and placed it in front of him, though it was not his usual kindly one. This smile seemed to make him look aged and tired of life as you interpreted it. He seemed bothered about something, sensing the air in all directions. Something was up.

Then he prodded your hand under the table and you felt for it, feeling the quiet crackle of paper instead. Another note from him. You grabbed it and pulled it out of Erwins sight while he was occupied with something else, turned on heel and left the office without a glance at Levi. Even eye contact seemed a strange thing to make when you were around highly ranked people. You still struggled to meet Erwins eyes. They seemed cold and calculating most of the time, but you reckoned that was probably just you being an antisocial freak.

You leaned against the wall and unfolded the letter. Somethings up with me. Feeling terrible. Muscles ache. Weird scent in the air. Halp. Xx

And he hadn't bothered to spell help correctly. Just another ranting about being a werewolf. Or was it? Whatever this was it left you another thing to worry about for some of the day.

Levi:

No. Please, this can't be happening. Why now.

The rest of Erwins words for the navigations and positions of the 57th expedition outside the wall became a blurr. I couldn't focus on it now that my vision swam suddenly in and out, as did his voice. He was far away. I was panting, but trying to keep it down. Anger was pulsing through me but I didn't know why. My claws were threatening to burst out of my fingertips. He looked at me with concern. "Levi," he said firmly. "Is something wrong?" I looked at him, panicked, now that I couldn't answer. I was shifting, unintentionally and out of control. I willed for my body to stay put, my claws to shrink back, but in vain. No dammit, i thought as it started to grasp hold of my body.

I couldn't stop myself and screamed, gripping the desk hard, digging my nails in, small splinters lodging into my hands. "LEVI!!! Talk to me what's happening!" Erwin was yelling now. My teeth morphed into sharp fangs in my mouth. The only reason this could be happening was if something was actually about to happen. I caught a whiff of the air. It hit me in the face all at once. Danger. Here. Wolf. Rogues. They were coming for me. Those cowardly forest bastards.

There was no time to explain this to anyone. Only (Y/N) would listen if I told her, if I was to tell anyone. I had to run. There was a chance that I could chase them off before a major attack started.

They were nearing. I couldn't tell exactly where but they were nearing. I looked to the window, my only exit. I was about to do the fools thing really, but some would have considered it heroic. I gritted my teeth against the pain and met Erwins eyes. It felt like silently apologising for betraying his trust and for being about to become this monster. He trusted me, I knew that. And I felt terrible about this. I gripped the wall, accidentally tearing claw marks in the paper. I was an idiot to think I had this completely under control. I mean, I usually did, until there was a sort of danger I sensed which involved a werewolf attack. There was no time to remain human and grab my odm gear, fighting them like I would do with titans. I had to do this as I was now. I had no choice.

"I'm sorry Erwin," I ground out, my face already losing its human features. "I'm sorry." I let out a sob, covering my mouth. "Please excuse me for this." I tore across the room. I heard Erwins scream ringing in my ears before I jumped through the window, everything at once ringing in my ears, glass shattering around me and slicing wounds in my fur. There was no way I was going to survive this fall.
