That day, you lay alone on the grass, just watching life fly by. You had to be careful not to drift off or lose consciousness and remain alert incase Levi came at that moment and found you basking in the sun and drooling. Oh, the shame of showing up like that infront of a crush.

To comfort yourself through the long wait you imagined waking up with in his arms one day and whispering those words you had wanted to hear escape his lips for so long 'I love you.' So what if it was a cliché thought? It was beautiful and you loved the idea of romance. It was one of the things you had most looked forward to in your life. You remembered how in your childhood you had always pestered your parents with questions on how people fell in love and how babies were made. "Do they come from kisses mommy?" You remembered asking as she hurriedly cut the vegetables for the nights soup. "Uhhh, sweetie I'd rather tell you when you are older, ok? Right hun?" She added in a hushed whisper to dad, who nervously rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah...when you're older." You just giggled and ran around the house once again, pretending to be a wild goose flying away from the bite of winter. People had told you how they had watched the geese fly away for winter and you had been curious until one day you had gasped and waved your little toddler hands around as they flew over you. The joys of being a small child. The child that would run home chasing fireflies at night, the one who stayed outside all day, was fascinated by picture books and scribbling on paper. That was how you grew up and now this was how far you'd come. You were now serving in Levi's scouting team and slowly building a love relationship between you and Levi.

You were snapped out of your thoughts as a strange scent lingered in your nostrils. You didn't move from your position but you uncomfortably clenched and unclenched your fists. Somoenes eyes were on you. You could feel it as if it were an actual thorn shot through your side.

Levi POV:
I crouched in the shadows, bleeding. I waited for her to see me so I could run to her but she just lay on the grass, nostrils flared and eyes alert. Crap, I thought. She's caught my scent. It was surprising that even a human like (Y/N) could smell me. The wounds were not that bad, just a few deep gauges here and there. I readied myself to spring, to be driven mad with longing and also at her, but I held myself back, grinding my teeth so hard I felt a bead of sweat slide down the side of my neck. I didn't want this. I wanted to be normal, to be a human. But the fact that from tommorow night I would never see her again was tearing me apart from the inside. All these nights I had tried to control it for her but it was just not working. I had messed up, failed to keep hold of myself. I had to see her for one more day. I lost all reasoning at that moment. The light was blinding as I stepped out the shadows. It beat down upon me, the rays, the heat and my body rippled as I changed back. I gasped at the impact. It had always felt as if I was either being sewn together or ripped apart when this happened. That was what changing skins was like. I just changed back and nearly stumbled and that was when her beautiful eyes finally found mine.

Your POV:
He startled you as he burst out of the trees. You knew it was Levi and you started to smile in sheer happiness as he careened towards you. Then you realised something wasn't quite right. He stumbled and you caught the split second shock on his beautiful face. His normally calm features were twisted with pain. He lost his footing and crashed down into you like a wild animal. The world span and you both rolled for a second and the next thing you knew, the panting wolf boy had landed on top of you. He hurriedly scampered off and retreated back to get some air. Some dramatic entrance that was,
you thought.

As you recovered, you gasped at the state he was in, feeling the shock exposed on your own face. You didnt bother to hide it. Levi lay on the floor, a small droplet of blood oozing from his mouth, his eyes now looking savage and scratch marks marring his face. There were a few deep ones down his leg, which were still bleeding. He looked like he had been beaten to the pulp, pale as a bone. "Levi?" You whispered, suddenly frightened of this Levi. "Oh my god Levi!" You suddenly yelled. "What happened to you! Say something!" He tried to stand up and limp towards you, his useless injured leg dragging in the dirt.

"Stop!" You cried. "Don't injure yourself any more." You scooted towards him just as he collapsed. There were a few bandages in your pocket, along with other bits and bobs such as buttons and spare hair ties. You whipped them out and cut a strip off with your teeth. He was bleeding everywhere. You started on his leg, trying to stifle the bleeding and then you wrapped the bandage around it. It took you all that effort not to cry whilst doing this. Your breathing was coming out in unsteady, ragged gasps. You thought you were losing him. His body had already stained the ground below him a deep red. Hold on wolf boy, you thought to yourself silently.

"(Y/N)?" Levi whimpered after a while. You were relieved to see that the savageness in his eyes had long died down. "Levi!" You practically yelled aloud. "Don't you ever do this to me again, so you hear me?! You have no idea how stressfull that was, you thought you were actually losing you there for a minute." He put his bandaged hand on yours. "I'm sorry (Y/N). But hey, calm down. I'm ok now." You breathed out and tried to still your shaking body. "Please tell me what happened, Levi. Who would do something like this to you?" When you found out, you swore to yourself murder them painfully with as many knives as it took for them to suffer and scream for their life.

He suddenly looked terrified. You had no idea what of but you could just tell because of the way his blue eyes widened. He whimpered again, almost like a wolf. This poor wretched, wounded shaken up wreck that was your Levi looked like some heroic wolf scarred in battle. You wanted to help him. You put your hand on his cheek, feeling it cold beneath your palm like marble. "Levi," you sighed. "Look at me. I know your scared and you probably don't want me to know. But I have to, I want to help you. Please let me."
He sat up, sighed and looked you in the eye. "You don't understand (Y/N). You'd hate me if I told you." "I'd never hate you," I said desperately. "Tell me whats wrong Levi!" I pleaded. "Please!"

It all happened very suddenly then, only for a split second for you to realise it happened. Levi suddenly lurched up and you saw his eyes full of savageness like an animal set loose in the wild. He then lashed out at you with his hand and you yelped as you felt a splitting pain on the side of your face, feeling claws rake across it. You fell back, slightly dazed and horrified to find your hand stained with blood as you pulled it away from your face.

Levi just stared at you and put his hands over his mouth. "Levi?" You said. "Are you ok?" You had no idea why you were asking this. Levi had just scratched you. You had no idea what else to say. Levi's eyes started brimming with tears. He held his hands over his face. "(Y/N)...I'm so sorry...I just lost control...I don't know why." The tears flowed down his perfect face. "I'm so sorry," he whispered and pulled me into a hug. "I'm so so sorry (Y/N)." His body was warm against yours. His arms were around you as if to shield you from anything that came your way. You stroked his back and allowed him to cry on your shoulder. "Please don't hate me," he whispered. You crushed him to you. "I won't hate you. We'll sort this out together but I really need to know what's going on. I want to help. Really I do."

He pulled away and sighed. "I'll come for you tonight. Then we'll come here and I'll show you my secret. Then you'll finally understand all this."

You said nothing, but nodded silently.
