"It's too small." Talulah frowned at her reflection. She was wearing a checkered black and red dress that hung loosely over her large bump, but was rather short.

"Put some tights on then." I replied.

"But they always fall down." She grumbled.

I rolled my eyes. "You're such a whiner now. Take the dress off and put something else on then?"

"But I like it."

"Ugh." I grumbled and walked over to the door. "Hurry up and decide something. I don't want to be here all day."

We'd arranged to go talk to the guy that owned the furniture store in the Pit. He'd agreed to make us some baby furniture because we needed it to squeeze into Talulah's room and a regular crib would be too big.

"Alright, fine." Talulah muttered her reply.

I headed into the kitchen and poured myself a drink whilst I waited for her.

I looked around the room that had once been quite un-homely. We'd scrubbed it until it was spotless, then brought our own cutlery and a few tins of food to fill the cupboards. We had a decent refrigerator, and a few pictures were pinned to the front of it with magnets.

The first was a picture of Freddie, Nathan, Talulah and I. It was in the Pit on the night that Nathan died. I'd completely forgotten that the picture had been taken, until Mel brought it over a few months ago.

The second picture, pinned beside the first, was a print out of Talulah's last ultrasound. The baby was huge, and unlike when I'd seen the one of my sibling, it was clear that it was a baby. It had little hands and little feet, and you could clearly see the shapes of it's facial features. It made me smile just looking at it. Talulah had decided that she didn't want to know what the baby was going to be, therefore no one else was allowed to know either. We'd all placed bets on whether it would be a boy or a girl, and I had a feeling that it might be a boy... but I was no baby whisperer, so I didn't really have a clue.

The next image was of Talulah and I. We'd brought a camera not long after the patrol captain told her that she had to take leave, and we'd snapped so many pictures of random crap, although some of the images had been rather funny. However, I think a picture of Zeke's nose, or Mel pulling an ugly face were better suited in the camera than on the fridge in our apartment. In this particular image, Tee and I were stood in the Pit hugging whilst Freddie took the picture, before we swapped.

The last picture was the one that I took on that day of Freddie and Tee. She had her arms slung around his neck and they were both smiling. I remembered how that had been the first time I'd seen Talulah truly happy since Nathan had died. She was glowing, just as people said that pregnant women did, and she was showing her strength. That night she had told me how much she'd enjoyed her day, and that Freddie and I were her rocks. She'd said, and I quote; 'I need you like a fish needs water.'

"Okay, I'm done." Talulah called out as she entered the room. I turned to look at her and fought the urge to roll my eyes as I noticed that she'd decided to put on the tights. She had a pair of slip on black shoes on her feet, a present from me so that I didn't have to do her boots up anymore.

"You look pretty." I told her, then finished my drink and placed the cup beside the sink.

"Thank you." She smiled. "Are you ready?"

"I was just waiting for you."

"Oo, okay." She muttered sarcastically, then sent me a cheeky grin.

I smiled and shook my head, then grabbed her hand and walked towards the door.

The pair of us walked hand in hand through the compound, chatting happily, until we reached the furniture store. I held the dangling beads open for Tee, and she squeezed past me, then I followed her. Hal, the store's owner, was sat behind the counter sipping from a steaming cup.
