CHAPTER 8
*ASHTON'S POV*
"So, your tongue almost slipped." I said. Talking about what happened earlier.
I spotted Craig at the convenience store near the school, he's holding a sandwich but not eating at all, and staring at the soda on the table. He looked like he's thinking deeply about something.
"You gonna drink this?" I grabbed the soda and drink it.
Still, I got no response from my best friend. I sat down and started snapping my fingers in front of him. He looked at me emotionless and smirked.
"You looked happy, do you finally got her?"
I almost choked on the soda. "What the hell?! Is that what this is all about?"
"Hm... so I guess not."
"Chill man, you're getting so serious about it, you don't know what you were saying. You're creeping me out."
I think this is what I am avoiding to happen. His anger's making him forget about our friendship, just for some simple shitty reasons.
He remained quiet. His sandwich still untouched.
"Know what?" I decided to break the silence. "What if we make this easier, let's fight fair."
"That's what I'm waiting to hear, I thought you'd be selfish with her." He smiled at me.
"Tch! Never. May the best man win." I offered my hand for a shake, gladly, he took it.
"The best man." He said.
Craig took a bite on his sandwich, finally. At least he's okay now.
"Man! I'm starving." He said.
"Hahaha! You're starving yourself to death by staring on space, dumb ass."
"Oh! This tastes awful." He complained.
"Just eat.".
"Come on man, how 'bout you treat me for lunch? It's you who made me starved."
"Fine, as if I had a choice." I agreed. " and stop over thinking things from now on."
"Yeah, yeah. Hey, you owe me my soda too." He chuckled and messed my hair.
That's my best friend. Craig, he's back.
We decided to ditch class for today and headed at a restaurant. I think that'll help. Not seeing Zoe around might decrease the tension between us two, especially now.
We drove around looking for a perfect place to hangout until our feet brought us to Duke's Huntington Beach Restaurant.
We've been here ever since we became best buds, the Charbroiled Cheeseburger with waffle fries are our favorites, and we paired it with The Volcano. The view of the ocean and the breeze itself topped it up. Plus, it's close to our house.
The waiter have us placed our orders and left. We're both looking at the beach now. Seating at the patio, the wind ruffled our hairs but we don't care. Watching pretty girls walked by outside, obviously ogling with us.
"I missed this." I said with closed eyes feeling the breeze. "The waves were amazing, it's been a while since we surfed together. Let's do it again some other time. What do you say?"
"Sounds great! Hope you didn't forget your surfin' moves in New York." Craig teased.
"Whatever man. I know you had a lot of experience in Hawaii. Both in beaches and babes."
