CHAPTER 15
*ASHTON'S POV*
Her head keeps on leaning towards me and I can't concentrate on my driving. My eyes were hurting from the cold air-con in my car. What a night.
"Hey, Zoe." I occasionally shake her to wake her up, but it's no use. "Hey! Zoe! Keaton!" I continued, useless.
I stared at her the moment the lights went red by the crossroad, her head leaned on my shoulder. I inclined her seat to make her comfortable, then stared at her again.
"What do you think you're doing, huh? You know how much I worried about you? You hard-headed playing-tough-girl high schooler! I can't afford to see you like this, all drunk and sloppy. If not from my feelings, I'll leave you somewhere alone. Lucky you, I like you very much."
I know she can't hear me, but I don't mind. I want to shout at her, make her feel how much I like her. The more I control it, the more it makes me want to protect her from anything.
The traffic lights went green and I kept driving ahead. I got lost again from the streets nearby their house, it's still dark. And it's only my second time going around their place.
She moved a little when I hit a hump, maybe because of the shake of the car.
"Zoe, where's your house again?" I grabbed the chance to ask, hoping she somehow cut her sleep.
She only let out a light moan from yawning. I grunt in annoyance, she's still on a deep sleep, I want to go home also to get some rest too you know. This is insane!
"We're here, wake up." Finally!
Still, no movement.
Having not enough choice, I get out the car and opened her door. I'm carrying her again, there's nothing else I could do.
I was about to press their doorbell when I remembered what Craig told me. She never ask permission from her mom, so if I face her mom with Zoe unconscious, she may curse me all my life.
I put down Zoe and walked around to the back door. It's locked too. I looked trough the windows and guessed which one is her room, and I thought the one with the open is Zoe's.
Picking up Zoe, I carried her, piggy back. It's way much easier.
"Shit." I whispered to myself. I put Zoe down again, on the grass. "How can I make Zoe climb to her room when she's--- No, no, no." I slapped my forehead for being so stupid.
Going home is my only chance to get through this night, and I'm taking her with me.
*ZOE'S POV*
I feel the surface shaking, I tried my best to open my eyes but I can only do a bit. I have no idea how long I've been like this. I looked beside me and saw a silhouette of a guy, driving. He's singing by the song that played on the car's stereo. Which I cannot clearly hear.
"Stay put Zoe." He put his arms in front of me to stop me from moving. I want to sit up straight but my arms and legs were shaking, I don't have the strength. Add the inclined seat, this is terrible.
"Let me sit, please." I tried my best to untangle my numb tongue, reaching for his arms on the stirring wheel.
"Hey, don't do that, we're gonna be crushed. I'll pull over, just stay right there."
The car stopped, I don't know where, actually I don't care. All I know is it's somewhere by a highway with nothing but a dry soil and big rocks.
"Come on help me, help yourself. God, you're heavy for a skinny girl." I looked at him, so it's Ashton, pulling me up.
