CHAPTER 11
*ZOE'S POV*
Thanks for yesterday.
I texted them as soon as I woke up. My muscles were still hurting from surfing but I had lots of fun and no regrets.
Craig replied his you're welcome but Aston never did, maybe he's still sleeping.
It's family day for me and mom, we attend mass every sunday and eat out. Sundays served as our mother and daughter bonding since my dad died. It's very different from when he was alive, when mom cooked every sunday and we ate together at home.
We finished the mass and headed to a diner nearby. To my surprise, Ashton was there too but he's just standing by his car and texting. He looks like waiting for someone.
My phone beeped. You're Welcome, Miss. Ashton finally replied!
"Ash!" I yelled.
He can't seem to hear me, the sunday crowd overpowered my voice. I decided to text him instead.
Where you going? I'm right behind you. :) I was about to send it, but Ashton waved his hand to someone.
I stepped a foot to get to him but someone greeted him instead. It's Bridget, so he's the one he's waiting for. They talked a little and got in the car and drove away.
To my curiosity, I replaced my text.
What's up? I waited for his reply but I waited for nothing.
Hey, where are you? I know I'm a bit nosy now but I kept on asking him and texting the same all over again.
"Zoe, what are you doing? Let's go in!" My mom said.
Did you to hang out with Ashton today? I texted Craig before I entered the diner.
We began eating but my mind's flying somewhere, Ashton said he thinks he likes me. But why is he with Bridget? They were smiling at each other a while ago and seemed really happy and close.
My phone beeped and I immediately picked it up. It's Craig, he texted back.
Nope, never talked to him today.
I never bothered to text back and froze for a moment.
"Zoe, honey, we're eating. Mind putting away your cell?" Mom said.
"Sorry mom."
I wanted to call Ashton so bad that I ate fast as I could and even choked some time. My mom kept telling me to slow down but I acted like I can't hear her.
"Excuse me mom, I have to call someone."
Not waiting for mom's response, I stood up and held my cell outside. I dialed Ashton's number.
Yellow! It's Ash if I don't pick up then I'm not here, obviously. Leave me a message! Ciao!
So he turned off his phone.
I kept trying. Again and again but the same message greeted me. Was it my reaction yesterday that Ash is acting like this? Does my face showed that I had no interest in him? Maybe I don't, but can't he wait until I do?
I stood outside for a while, troubled. I don't know what Ashton's up to this time. Is Ashton being real to me or not? I walked back and forth diverting my thoughts to something, thinking of some reason why he and Bridget were together.
I only stopped when my phone rang, it's Craig's name on the screen.
"Hi." I quickly picked up.
"Why are you looking for Ash?"
