CHAPTER 20
*ZOE'S POV*
Craig drove me home again, his habit of doing so kept on and on as days went by. Ashton sort of missing in the picture though. I wonder what happened to him?
"Thanks Craig, see you tommorow." I smiled.
"You haven't answered me yet." He grinned. He's asking me the same over and over.
"I told you I'm not going to the dance." I replied with a convincing tone.
"Well, I think I'll take Sasha instead."
I know he's kidding, I can tell by his waggling thick brows and the lip biting. But his attempt of making me jealous won't work, I'm not his girlfriend. Well, not yet.
I rolled my eyes at him and waved my hand on the road. Telling him to go now and we'll see each other again soon. He didn't stayed long and followed my orders, as soon as he's gone by the intersection, I dialed Ash's number.
"Yellow!" Ash greeted, his voice a little husky.
"Are you okay? You sound like you're sick." I asked, my voice sounding concerned.
"Nah, just a little cold." I can hear him coughing lightly.
"Is that why you've been absent in class? Since when are you sick? You should have told me and Craig about it."
"Don't worry too much, it makes me smile. You checking up on me, concerning yourself about this little sick thing. I think I'm getting better I can feel it, you make me feel a lot better, Zo. Thank you." He cheerfully said followed by a chuckle.
"You're giving me nicknames now."
I contained my giggles and bit my lip, this tingly feeling wants me to shriek my heart out. I covered the phone's mouthpiece and I joyfully jumped in front of our house. Shrieking lightly and shouting without any words and sound coming from my mouth. I even stomped my feet and curled to a sit on the doorstep.
I breathe quickly from my mouth before I resumed talking to Ash.
"Hello? Are you still there?" Ash said when I put the phone back on my ears.
"Yes, yes. I'm here. Sorry. Hmmm, really? So I think I have to call you everyday, huh? To make you feel better." I joked, keeping my mouth shut after every statement. I may not control myself and tell him how happy I am I got to talk to him.
"I'd love that." He softly said. "So, do you have a date for the dance?"
I paused for a moment, I thought about Craig. He asked me too but now Ashton is doing the same. They always do this and it's so hard for me.
"Uhm... None." I simply replied. "Actually I'm not planning on having one, besides I'm not going."
I can hear him breathe deeply and cleared his throat. I waited for his words but he didn't talk anymore.
"Ash?" I asked.
"What?" He bluntly replied.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Then why did you turn quiet for a moment?" I asked, nervously waiting for his answer.
"I felt sad, if you're not going then I'll be left alone in the corner without someone to have a dance with." He lowly answered, but his tone is somewhere sweet.
