CHAPTER 16
*AHTON'S POV*
"Can we talk?" She said as she stood by our table at the cafeteria.
She's holding a tray with a sandwich and orange juice, her eyes were dim like suffering from lack of sleep. I feel fine though even I only slept three hours and spent the rest checking up on her last night, she's really a girl who don't use to party all night long, that explains why, I think.
"Who? Me or him?" I asked, pin pointing at me and Craig beside.
"Both of you."
I looked at Craig, and to Zoe. "Sure." I said.
Craig stood up and offered a seat for Zoe. He's beaming, actually we both are. Zoe remained reserved and didn't smile back at us, I hope it's still because of the vodka shots she had at the bar and nothing else.
"I'm just so confused about... some things." She started, seated in a laid back position on her chair while looking at the sandwich she's poking with a juice straw.
I don't know where this talk is going but I sure hope this will benefit all of us.
"What things?" Craig asked. "You know what? I do feel you, I'm confused about some things too... Ash." He added, turning his head at me with grin.
"What?!" After that I kept silent, sipping my juice and rolling my eyes around the cafeteria like nothing happened. Avoiding their eyes. I see Zoe from the corner of my eye moving her head up and stared at me. Now they're both eyes on me with faces waiting for my words.
"Fine." I said, and cleared my throat. "What do you want to know?"
"Lady's first." Craig offered.
I looked at Zoe calmly, but deep inside my heart is racing horses. My hand started to sweat and I bit my lips to hide its pale color, if ever.
"Do you still like me?"
A long pause took over between us. I looked at Craig whose eyes turned wide. I'm still processing her question, what will I say? what will I do?
"Never mind, I think you're all out of words." She said, about to leave.
"No, I like you Zoe. I still like you." I uttered.
She remained seated. "Then why did you ignore me for the past few days?"
Her tone is demanding. So she's liking me now huh? Hehe! Uh, Shit, I'm over thinking things again, brush it off Ashton. I thought.
I gathered all my courage, "It's because of Sasha, and Craig." I looked at them.
"Sasha's my ex, Craig mentioned it last night, I don't know if you heard him clearly so I'm saying it again." I started. "She's always been there for me, so I find it hard to turn her down or ignore her. A very nice person she is. We've been together since our childhood and my mom made me promise to take care of her no matter what. Until I learned to love her for more than friends and she too felt the same."
"Then why did you broke up?" Zoe asked.
"We fell out of it, we fell out of love. I don't know why it just happened, no bitterness and all. No wonder we're still close friends now, I like it better this way. I can still keep my promise to my mom in this state." He said.
"And Craig?"
"Craig's the reason why I'm ignoring you, not Sasha."
"Why?" She asked in dismay, her shoulders fell down.
